Vern outlines the interplay between science and religion since the Renaissance. How may we recover the sense of the sacred — in nature, personhood, and society?  Can Primal, Asian, and Monotheistic faiths help to restore us with nature, heal the self, and find the community in covenant?

Heartland Chapter – Alliance of Divine Love announces that the 2017 Vern Barnet Interfaith Service Award, named in recognition of the lasting contribution of the Rev. Vern Barnet, DMin., to our vibrant interfaith community, will be presented to Sheila Sonnenschein, past Chair of the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council and a long-time director of the Council, as well as co-chair of the annual Table of Faiths in 2006 and 2007.  Read more about Sheila and this event here.

So many were moved by the beauty of last year's Candlemas, Vern has been asked to create another such experience. The TENTATIVE PROGRAM includes:
•  The Sacred Arts Chorale performs the Missa Pange Lingua by Josquin des Prez
•  Stringed music performed by Beau Bledsoe
•  Organ pieces performed by Paul Meier on the Gabriel Kney Pipe Organ
•  Poetry from Wm Shakespeare, Donne, T S Eliot, W H Auden, Vern Barnet, others
•  And, of course, the full candle-lighting ceremony
