Game Day Information

Alumni Band Day is tomorrow! Here’s a recap of the details you will need to know for the day.

Attire: Polo & khaki pants/shorts

You must wear a Pitt Band Alumni polo shirt and khaki pants or khaki shorts to participate in Alumni Band Day, as well as to enter the stadium with the Alumni Band if you do not hold your own gameday ticket. If you are purchasing a polo shirt, Script Pitt Band Alumni polo shirts will be on sale at the registration table for $35, with sizes ranging from S to 4XL available first-come, first-served. Older logo polo shirts will be on sale for $10 but are limited on sizes and styles. Golden Girls will wear their designated outfit.

It looks like it will be warm on Game Day — the forecast calls for "abundant sunshine" and highs nearing 80° — so if you'd like to wear khaki shorts instead of khaki pants, that is acceptable.  That said, at the start of the tailgate, it will only be in the upper-50s, so feel free to layer up with navy blue Pitt attire such as a Centennial Jacket.  We also recommend dark-colored shoes, and feel free to wear a Pitt Band ballcap.

Registration 8:00–10:30am

Registration and tailgate starts at 8:00am at Gold Lot 2 (adjacent to W General Robinson St, look for the large rental truck). You will sign in at the registration and pay any outstanding balance for dues and/or a polo shirt (cash and check only). All attendees must check-in at the tailgate registration table, which will close at 10:30am, so please allow yourself enough time to arrive on-time.

Food and beverages will be provided at the tailgate, so come hungry and thirsty!

Pregame concert/rehearsal at 10:00am

All alumni are invited to join the band in their pregame concert at 10:00am outside of Gate A. We will direct attendees from the tailgate beginning at 9:50am. Music for the day will include the school songs and (I've Had) The Time Of My Life.

  • Instrumentalists: Please remember to bring your instrument. Instrument cases can be stored on the truck throughout the game, and can be picked up as early as the third quarter. If you asked to borrow an instrument on the registration form, please bring your own mouthpiece if possible; we are extremely limited in extra brass mouthpieces. You will receive copies of the music and a drill position for the halftime show at registration.
  • Colorguard: There are videos available online to help you review general flag choreography as well as choreography for (I've Had) The Time Of My Life. You can also rehearse these with the student colorguard before the pregame concert. Direct questions to Mark Yohe at rent121269@aol.com.
  • Golden Girls: A rehearsal to review the combos/fight songs included in the halftime routine will be held at 5:30pm Friday in the new Sports Dome, located behind the Cost Center (where the old baseball field was located). Attire for Saturday is the yellow performance tank (sleeveless or racer back edition), with black pants (no patterns/stripes/designs), and tennis shoes/dance shoes/insteps (cougars). Routine will be reviewed outside Gate A at approximately 9:30am, prior to the pregame concert. Direct questions to Jessica Kennedy at jaspinny@aol.com.

March into stadium at 11:00am

The Alumni Band will line up on W General Robinson St for our March to Victory, stepping off promptly at 11:00am. You must march in with the band in full attire to enter the stadium through the service gate if you do not have your own gameday ticket. Otherwise, you are welcome to enter the stadium normally through Gate B after the parade if you have a separate ticket, and should plan to meet the Alumni Band at our seats in Section 130.

Please be familiar with Heinz Field policy. Once inside the stadium, we will be seated near the Varsity Band, so please refrain from playing your instrument in the stands.

Postgame tailgate

After the game ends, join us again at the tailgate where the party continues.  We are also still looking for more volunteers to help us unload the equipment truck back at the Band Room after all is said and done.

Questions? Concerns?

If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know at pbac.events@gmail.com or post to our Facebook event.

See you tomorrow!  Hail to Pitt!
