Our Vision Statement

We are a global sisterhood that connects women though circles. We create safe spaces to share our true selves. Meeting in circle, we find our voices, claim our power, and celebrate our self-worth, leading to personal and planetary transformation.
Dear GTW Sisters,

In the aftermath of the firestorms, we look for the grace and fortitude to move on. The slogan in Santa Rosa was “The love in the air
is thicker than the smoke.” That love is right here in this community as well. Let us remember to continue to be there in the coming months for those whose homes were lost or property was damaged.

Because of the fire situation, Good Women International cancelled the Human Trafficking Prevention event that was scheduled for Oct. 14th. It has been rescheduled for Nov. 18th. Details are below. We encourage you to participate in this important educational effort and to invite your friends to attend, too.

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude. Let us remember that we are enough and that we have enough. The deep sharing that happens in circle helps us to keep focused on that. May that strength sustain us in these challenging times.

Sending virtual hugs to all of you,

Judith Hurley Prosser

From Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Author,
"Women Who Run With the Wolves"

"One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these -- to be fierce and to show mercy toward others, both, are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it.

If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.There will always be times when you feel discouraged. I too have felt despair many times in my life, but I do not keep a chair for it; I will not entertain it. It is not allowed to eat from my plate. The reason is this: In my uttermost bones I know something, as do you.

It is that there can be no despair when you remember why you came to Earth, who you serve, and who sent you here. The good words we say and the good deeds we do are not ours: They are the words and deeds of the One who brought us here. In that spirit, I hope you will write this on your wall: When a great ship is in harbor and moored, it is safe, there can be no doubt. But that is not what great ships are built for.

This comes with much love and prayer that you remember who you came from, and why you came to this beautiful, needful Earth."

Monthly Circles

Gather the Women Nevada County is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. As part of our business practice we are asking that each woman who attends a circle sign our Liability Waiver & Release Form.  If you go to multiple circles, you only need to sign one form.  There may be special waivers for those circles held in commercial locations instead of private homes. Thank you for supporting us in this process.

In consideration of others, we request that women honor the No Scent Zone at our circles and events.

Transforming the limited body into the limitless self.
This beautiful ancient Native empowerment ceremony for women takes place monthly, during the full moon.  If you yearn for a deeper bond with your sacred feminine spirit, and have an affinity for the sacred nature of water, this ceremony will offer you an experience with the Sacred Feminine. Any woman who has begun, is in the middle of, or completed her menses is welcome to attend.

Women, please wear a long skirt (I have extra).  Bring a snack or dish to share after. There is a suggested donation of $10 to support the New Dream Foundation & GTW. Bring drums, rattles and other instruments for the ceremony. We will be outside, so dress appropriately for the weather. Come share this beautiful ceremony and snacks even if you cannot share a donation at this time. RSVP as space is limited; if you RSVP and cannot come, please cancel in advance.

Contact: Ariann,
 928-284-5738 or email ariann@newdreamfoundation.com

Do you find yourself on the edge of "never enough" and wanting more financial security? Our attitude towards money contributes to truly having the life we dream. Through examining and redefining our relationship with money we intend to create expanded prosperity. Please join us as we support each other in transforming our relationship with money to create greater financial flexibility. We’ve completed reading and discussing Lynn Twist’s book, The Soul of Money and Easy Breezy Prosperity: The Five Foundations for a More Joyful, Abundant Life by Emmanuel Dagher.

We’re now using the Heart Triad Process to focus on our highest intention, and then requesting and receiving support from the other members of the circle.  It’s a very powerful approach. We hope you will join us.

Sounding for Self-Care & World Peace

Third Tuesdays
Tues, Nov 21st, 7:00-8:30 pm
Contact: Hilary Brumley,

hilary.brumley@gmail.com or
408-203-9666

In this circle we will explore the healing, transformative, and creative power of self-created vocal sounds called “toning”. We will experience harmonic resonance and heart coherence, bringing balance and clarity, enabling us to be the best expressions of ourselves. We will learn about the sacred vowel sounds and their correspondence to the chakras and glands. We will explore basic principles of sound healing. We will explore silence and harmonic overtones, creating sacred space and sending intentions for the highest good and harmony of all.

“tone”...expresses his whole organization of body, soul, and spirit
as a revelation to the outside as well as to the inside.
The vowel element is the sound playing on this musical instrument.
     When producing vowel sounds,
we actually push what lives in the soul out through the body.

                                                                           ~ Rudolph Steiner

Come let your unique voice enrich the diverse harmonic symphony of the universe!

Repairing the Narrative. Occupying Jesus. Restoring Mary Magdalene This is a study of relatively recently discovered and translated, early Christian texts.  In particular, studies of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, lost for centuries, reveal the true legacy of Jesus and Mary, and provide the wholeness and equality missing from the traditional narrative. Perhaps more of the world is ready now, for the full story and the progressive vision for humanity that it represents.

Thanks to the latest translations, the Son of Man now becomes the Child of True Humanity. Readings from The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity by Cynthia Bourgeault; also The Gospel of Mary of Magdala by Karen L. King & other works will be provided. Jean-Yves LeLoup's book, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene will be discussed. All faiths and worldviews welcome.

Empowering Women Through the Sacred Feminine
3-Day Retreat

Dec 1-3, 2017
in Nevada City / Grass Valley

Contact Ixchel Tucker
925-269-9655 AdventureQuestsIntl.com

This retreat will help you understand how to use your uniquely feminine power to be more effective in your life and in the world.

Many of us have forgotten or lost our connection to the Sacred Feminine that dwells within. In a male-dominated world, in our struggle for equal rights and to be seen, we have lost touch with our feminine magic.

In this retreat we will connect with other women in circle as we awaken the Goddess or Divine Feminine within.
  • Participate in ceremonies to invoke your feminine energies
  • Practice meditations that strengthen your feminine power
  • Remember who we are as Women and the aspects of the feminine that we need in our world
  • Learn to hold space for yourself and others
  • Transform your life, your relationships and your community
The power of the Feminine is needed in the world at this time. When we come together as women, we can move mountains!

Notes from the Global Matrix Annual Gathering, Peaceful Valley Retreat Center, New Lyons, CO:

From Nancy Busey, RC

Once again, my journey into myself has become more authenticity revealed as I dive deeper within small and large Circles. And again, I am inspired by new and familiar relationships as we share Herstory.

From Angie Lux

My main take away from the Annual Gathering was that it was a deep and enriching experience. The special ceremonies and the small circle experience was something that I will cherish through out the coming long winter. It is special to meet with women from around the world and to open and share that we are all the same heart to heart.

By Judith Hurley Prosser

This was a life altering event for me. I was supported on all levels of my being. The physical: Just getting me, and my drum, there were special gifts from Lorraine and TuBears of Reno and our beloved Nancy Busey. Plus our airport transporters, Heather MacAdam and Larry Prosser, made the drive easy and convivial. The emotional:  Connections in the small circle clans (Buffalo for me) were deep and heartfelt.  I listened deeply and was heard at that same level. We were living in Sacred Space and deep encounters were available at every turn. Mental:  New ideas and perspectives abounded in the processes of the gathering. Spiritual: The rituals touched my soul.

There were migrating painted lady butterflies flitting everywhere.  All you had to do was sit still and they would land on you with their butterfly kisses.

Leading the drumming circle was a highlight for me. It was an opportunity to share how we put together our drumming circle here, so that women could learn how to do their own.  It was empowering for me to step into leadership at that level. For me drumming is coming back to the heart beat, to myself, and that is a joyous experience. Florencia from Argentina shared her perspective, “You look like a nice lady, but when you drum you are a different person.” That would be the authentic me shining through.

The Womb Ceremony: Releasing what no longer serves, replacing with love and visions of what can be, the womb itself blessed with hands on energy, a new me emerging. Powerful work.

There were 50 women from around the world, but there was one heart, and we all felt that connection.

Circle Contributions & Updates

Above it was noted that there is a request for $5.00 to be contributed to GTW when attending a circle. The purpose of that is to help with funding for the ongoing outreach of Gather the Women of Nevada County, including films, presentations, and special events.

Many of you are attending more than one circle. Some circles meet more frequently than others. Our request is just that each person give as she is able to joyfully contribute without creating a hardship for herself. No one will ever be denied participation in a Gather the Women of Nevada County event because of lack of funds.

In consideration of others, we request that women honor the No Scent Zone at our circles and events. GTW is not liable or responsible for the content or qualifications of the materials or presenters of the programs listed.

“Listening, witnessing, role modeling, reacting, deepening, mirroring, laughing, crying, grieving, drawing upon experience, women in circles support each other and discover themselves, through talk.”
- Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, The Millionth Circle.
