Halloween at WCT
As always, WCT will be handing out candy as part of the College Hill Halloween event! We have nearly 1000 kids every year. To do this, we need your help. WE NEED CANDY! Please bring your donations to WCT when you come to see "A Murder is Announced" or drop off at the Box Office between 7pm and 8pm Weds - Sat or 1pm and 2pm on Sunday.
Everyone is welcome Halloween night. Come in costume (or not) and help us hand out candy! Traffic can get as scary as Dracula and Frankenstein around the Theatre on Halloween, so come early for best parking. We will be there at 5pm. Hope to see you there!
Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced FINAL WEEK
An announcement in the Gazette states a murder will take place on Friday, October 29, at Little Paddocks. The residents of Chipping Cleghorn. Is it a joke? A new sort of game? Neighbors drop by just to see what happens. What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death, a determined Inspector grimly following the twists and turns, and Miss Marple on hand to provide the final solution at some risk to herself in a dramatic confrontation just before the final curtain.
Directed by Dana Miotto. Audition for BREAKING THE CODE Nov 11 & 12
Auditions will be held at WCT on Nov. 11 and 12 from 2:30 – 5pm. There are four (4) male roles available as all other roles were previously cast last year. Three roles require a British accent. One role speaks Greek. (Language tutor will be provided.) Production runs January 24-February 4, 2018.
A 17 year old male (or looks 17) who was a student with Alan in school.
20 year old male (or looks 20) who is Greek
60-70 year old male who was Alan’s mentor.
40-50 year old male -powerful authority
Breaking the Code by Hugh Whitemore tells the personal and true story of Alan Turing. He was a genius mathematician and engineer in Britain who played a leading role in winning World War II. He created a machine that decoded the Nazi’s secret messages, thereby ending World War II early and saving 12 million lives. He also created the first computer. Since his work was classified as top secret for years after the war, the general public knew nothing of him when he was arrested for homosexuality. He was sentenced to undergo hormone treatments that left him physically and mentally impaired. Alone and forgotten, he committed suicide. Whitemore’s play begins in 1952 and flashes back to illuminate important elements in his life. It’s a riveting, powerful drama. It is the same story as the award-winning film “The Imitation Game,” but it’s focus is on his personal life not his professional successes. It’s a well-constructed drama with excellent acting roles, moving, funny, and heart-breaking.
 Our holiday production is A DOG’S LIFE. This delightful show runs November 29-December 10. It is a family friendly musical comedy about the life of a dog and is told from his point of view as he meets his new owner and goes on their life journey surrounded by friends and shenanigans. It’s sweet, funny, heartwarming, and is a great ode to dogs and their owners everywhere. This hilarious, warmhearted new musical chronicles the joys and challenges of dog ownership. But just who owns whom?
Joel doesn’t want a dog — he wants his girlfriend back, and she wants a dog. But when she refuses to get back together, Joel becomes the reluctant owner of Jack.
Directed by Abri Geist Dennis. The cast is as follows: Jack: Katie Western, Joel: John Lloyd III Stafford, Big Dog: Robert Barnes, Little Dog: Sheena Monroe.
