Many Reasons for Summer 2017 to fly by!

Audience gathered together around in "Seeing the Beautiful Choice and Chaos"
The last few months have been so incredible. From performing and teaching with a new and ever changing body, to meeting new neighbours and taking things at a different pace, two things have remained constant: I'm in love and I love to dance.

Bearing (photo credit, Dahlia Katz), By Michael Greyeyes/ Signal Theatre
In June I was performing with Signal Theatre while experiencing a 5 month baby bump. I was thrilled to find out that many of the dance movements I had created in an earlier creation process were possible, including carrying fellow dancer Ana Groppler. Bearing is about the relationship between Canada's Settlers and Indigenious Peoples. I was glad to be part of the discussion and to work with so many amazing performers.
Ballet Jorgen Summer School
A couple weeks after I had the exciting opportunity to teach Contemporary Dance classes at a pre-professional level. All this after having moved to North York in a mad dash to make room for the new addition to the family. 5 weeks of teaching contemporary dance, each week felt a bit different as my body changed. The first weeks felt fabulous! I love teaching contemporary dance, getting people to move with more freedom and vigor and pushing for more presence and creativity.
I really was on cloud 9 as I had the freedom to teach the kind of dance that I love to students who showed genuine interest and enthusiasm.

By the end of the month I was pretty wiped out! I had well deserved break throughout August and time to settle into the new home and prepare for baby.

I also made a New Website! Check it out! I was in need of a fresh look.
Creation Process
Getting ready to be a mom. Here's the ultimate creation process! But before that nugget is cooked I began cooking up a new variation on The End of the Road Project.

In late August and into early September I started working in studio on some ideas for a group of solos. Working with some brand new collaborators is always an exciting thing. I am learning a lot about my process. I love that I've been able to start the seed of this thing before baby comes. I'll have something itching at me to get back into dance when I'm ready. Thanks to Robin Buckely, Sky Farichild-Waller, Syreeta Hector, Andrea Nann, and Gerry Trentham for sharing your expertise in the studio with me. Thanks to the TORONTO ARTS COUNCIL for supporting the project.

Collaboration
In 2018 I'll be back to work with Vazari Dance Projects on a new creation. Vazari has a crowdfunding campaign on now so Please take a look, your support is appreciated!  FUND US HERE

A very special type of CREATION process...
Creating a little one to add to the Peever family is thrilling. It's taken a lot of energy. It's also given me so much joy. Ahead of me, I know is a lot of work, a change of pace, a change in lifestyle. I am inspired by the dancing Mammas who have come before me, and all the experiences they've shared with me makes me empowered. Carrying a new human life inside me makes me feel empowered. It's an incredible journey.

I'll be teaching my ballet classes right up until a couple days before I'm due. If the midwives are right, and I'm late like the average first-timer, then I'll have a week or so off. I'm keeping on foot one the dance floor while also getting enough quiet time to enjoy this wild and exciting moment in my life.
teaching while preggers
Teaching while 6 months Pregnant. A little off balance, but having a blast!
Where you might see me this fall
I wont be dancing in any shows myself, not at 9 months pregnant! But I am out and about seeing dance when I can. Here's what I'm looking forward to seeing myself:

Harbourfront Centre Theatre to see Dual Light on Oct 19-21st by Dreamwalker Dance (AD Andrea Nann) Tickets Here

DanceWorks 40th Anniversary At Harbourfront Centre Theatre Nov 16-18th. Featuring work by Fujiwara Dance Inventions that I was involved in the early stages of creation back before I was sure about my early stage of baby creation! If I can I'll be there, perhaps with babe in arms!
