Meet Our New Forman Scholars

It's official. The Forman Scholars from the Salem High School Class of 2018 have been selected! Please join us in congratulating these seven outstanding students.

In the front row of the photo above, from left to right, is Sarah Sharp, Sierra Brown, and Kyla Avant. In the back row (standing) from left to right, is Starrchild Jackson, Michaela Dubois, Tariq Justice, and Katie Ridgway.

In addition to the $40,000 scholarship to be used over four years while in college, all seven students will receive support services from the Foundation over the next year while they tackle the task of choosing which college is right for them. We'll be sure to provide updates about these seven star students throughout the year.

Congrats again, and welcome to Forman Scholar family!

Salem's Good Samaritans: Stephanie Marshall

In the three years since our foundation was founded, we’ve met a lot of amazing people in Salem who go out of their way to give back to their community. We like to call these folks Salem’s Good Samaritans.

A lot of these people do this work without ever asking for recognition, but we think some of these stories need to be told.

We’d like to start with one woman who, in the last several months, has single-handedly helped more than 100 Salem youth get money for college: Stephanie Marshall.

Acorn Fund Helps Students Pursue Dreams & Expand Horizons

A number of Salem High School graduates have started to put their Acorn Fund college savings accounts to good use.

Earlier this year, Miracle Smith used the $1,000 she received from our foundation to help pay for a study abroad trip to Spain. This fall, Reanna Dorsey has used her Acorn Fund money to help pay for books and loans at Rowan College at Gloucester County.

Have you signed up for the Acorn Fund yet? Let us know how you plan to use your money! Send us a note to Info@FormanScholars.org.

2017 Class Of Forman Scholars Starts College

A future athletic trainer, attorney, business owner, crime lab analyst and nurse just began their college educations.

How do we know? They’re our 2017 class of Forman Scholars.

The five young women who were awarded our annual, renewable $10,000 scholarships last school year are Arianna Lapp, Ayanna Chapman, Destiny Green, Elise Davenport and Emily Hill. They all graduated from Salem High School in the spring, and now they all have started classes at different colleges, bringing with them unique aspirations for how they plan to make a mark on the world.
