IMS Study Documents Best Practices on the Safety of Journalists

 
Approximately 640 journalists have lost their lives in the last decade of which over 90 per cent took place in countries with conflict or authoritarian regimes. IMS’ study “Defending Journalism” aims to provide a mapping and greater understanding of what works – and what does not work when it comes to addressing the safety of journalists.

PPF Awards 19 Investigative Journalism Fellowships


The Pakistan Press Foundation has awarded 19 journalists from across Pakistan to pursue investigative stories on a range of social, political and economic issues. The fellows were selected from a pool of over 150 applicants in a rigorous selection process conducted by a panel of 17 reporters and editors who evaluated their pitches.

Highlights from the #GIJC17


The 10th Global Investigative Journalism Conference took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 15th to the 19th, and brought together a large number of media, including editors, journalists, photographers etc. The conference was a great opportunity for swapping stories, networking and learning.

IWMF: 2018 Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award 


The IWMF's fourth annual Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award is currently seeking entry submissions. The award was created in honor of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Anja Niedringhaus (1965-2014) that dedicated her life to capturing life in conflict societies. Just like Anja, the award is given to the women photojournalists that have opened the eyes of the public and helped us see the world a little better.
