October has been such a busy, busy month! We have covered a lot of ground, and we have learned many things. I am thankful for a month full of learning and growth for each student and myself!

I am looking forward to our upcoming conferences. If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you later this week. I know we will have wonderful conversations about continuing to partner together for the development of your student. 

 
Notes and Notices

Student Portfolios
Portfolios will come home on Thursday, October 26th. Please review and discuss them with your student. They are full of work detailing student progress and Quarterly Reports! Please send them back to school with your child by Tuesday, October 31st.
 
Red Ribbon Week
National Red Ribbon Week began today and ends Friday October 27. See the school newsletter to find each day’s theme and other useful information.
 
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be scheduled for Nov. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th. Each conference will be 20 minutes. 
If you don't receive a time from me tomorrow please contact me ASAP so we can schedule a conference.

Reading Workshop
I can reread to make sure I understand my book.
I can work on the way my voice sounds when I read.
I can celebrate my learning.

Word Work
I can read and spell words containing L blends.

Math Workshop
I can explain place value.
I can use objects to represent two digit numbers.
I can identify ones and tens in a given number.
I can create a number based given tens and ones.
I can identify a set of tens in a given number.

Writing Workshop
I can get ready to write by teaching all about a topic.
I can plan how my book will go.
I can keep readers in my mind to answer their questions.
I can teach with pictures and words.

Unit
I can explain Benjamin Franklin’s contributions.
I can describe Ben Franklin’s positive character traits.
I can explain Thomas Jefferson’s contributions.
I can describe Thomas Jefferson’s positive character traits.
I can investigate the weather.
