Enviroscapes Catchment Model being put through its paces for the first time.
It's always fun getting new stuff and recently we took delivery of a landscape catchment model. This will be used to show school students what happens to water when it falls on the landscape.  Here I am with Lynne Arnold  (on the right).  Lynne is an Educator with Guthrie-Smith and will be sharing this model in her work as part of a Water Education Resource currently being put together.  I am looking forward to sharing this resource with Flaxmere Primary later this term.

This will be the last issue of Step Out for 2017. The end of the year is approaching fast and it's time to think about Christmas and relaxing holidays. Before we can totally relax however planning for 2018 is in full swing.

If you are a school don't forget the HBRC educational resources we are happy to share. For more details visit the Education pages on the HBRC website. If you are a corporate and would like to help the environment we can help you with a beach clean-up or a winter planting activity - email enviro@hbrc.govt.nz

Take care and Best Wishes from Sally Chandler, Community Engagement Coordinator.

Enviroschools

Reflection time in CHB
Both Argyll East and Sherwood Schools in Central Hawke's Bay are celebrating their Enviroschools journies in November and December.

Sherwood School's envirogroup, the 'Sherwood Saplings'  are preparing for their day to take place in early December.  While reasonably new to Enviroschools it's still a good time to reflect on their journey so far and put in place next steps.

On Friday 17 November we will be joining the students at Argyll East for an action-packed morning.  The day will start with a welcome, followed by an explanation, tour, and opportunity to share evidence on what they have achieved and also work out their next steps. This day will enforce all the great work that Rose Hay, their Enviroschools lead teacher has undertaken over the past few years.

We look forward to being part of these special days.
The Napier Kindergarten Show with Eileen Kennedy
Eileen Kennedy presents news and views from across the Napier Kindergarten Association during a monthly interview on Radio Kidnappers.
This month the focus is on Mary Richmond Kindergarten in Maraenui. As one of 16 kindergartens in the Association, Mary Richmond is planning to deepen its Enviroschools journey in a few weeks by undertaking a Silver Reflection.
This interview can be downloaded for the next few months from the Radio Kidnappers website.
