Merry Christmas from the Chemo@home team

We would like to thank all of our referrers and colleagues for your support over the past 12 months. Its been a busy year for chemo@home, with many new referrers, new treatment regimes and a growing team of nurses and pharmacists.

We would also like to remind you we will be working though the Christmas break, apart from the Public Holidays. If you would like to provide your patients with a more convenient treatment alternative over the Christmas period, please let us know. We are happy to take one off referrals to ease the burden for your patients.

The chemo@home team look forward to working with you in 2018.

Billing

Did you know you can still claim what you normally would for an in hospital infusion when patients are receiving chemo@home? We are a “Hospital Substitution Service” meaning we have the same accreditation as hospitals.
We can also arrange for a video consult at the time of infusion so you can check in with your patient, and bill the same 116 or 110 item codes.
Health Fund update

Chemo@home have had a lot of success negotiating with health funds to fund/partly fund non PBS subsidised high cost drugs such as bevacizumab. Chemo@home also presented a poster entitled “High Cost Medications in Recurrent Glioblastoma Patients” at COSA in 2016.
Most health funds cover all treatment costs for chemotherapies, targeted therapies, immune therapies and infusions for chronic conditions such as MS and Iron deficiency.
For a full list of participating health funds please check our website.
For patients with no health insurance we charge a flat fee of $370 per infusion, $195 for Iron infusions (plus cost of drug)
