3 out of 9: Nico-Lab

Acute stroke is a disease with a high incidence (approximately 15 million cases per year, worldwide). It leads to lifelong disability (35%) and death (30%) and the socio-economic costs are enormous. Only 1/3rd of the patients has a good functional outcome. Since 2015, there are two possible ways to treat them. For both treatments the mantra 'time is brain' applies. Without oxygen, all brain cells die within a few hours which presumably renders treatment futile.

In a hospital, ischemic stroke is diagnosed with radiological imaging such as CT (computed tomography) or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). Nico-lab focuses on the development of automatic analyses of these images using artificial intelligence. Our focus is to provide medical doctors with information (a detailed biomarker report) as soon as possible. Further, we provide the fastest infrastructure in and between medical centers using the newest cloud-solutions. These applications can assist medical doctors to take adequate and quick decisions. In this way, treatment of patients can become faster and more efficient, leading to better functional outcome.

Nico-lab is a young and dynamic company affiliated to the AMC. In our company, we work with many international medical doctors, software developers and medical care innovators. That’s why we are always looking for (young) scientific talent! We prefer people with a background in medical engineering, software developers with medical background or software developers with knowledge of artificial intelligence.

5 out of 9: DSW Health insurances

At DSW, we stand for accessible and affordable healthcare and great service for our clients. We are flexible, quirky and innovative. An example of that is the fact that we build our own software. Are you that analytical and self-motivated person who is going to help us build our software?

All systems we use at DSW are designed, developed and built by our employees. Think of our debit- and credit system, our website or our MijnDSW-app. As we build our own software, our IT-department has grown to around 150 colleagues whose days evolve around improving service for our clients. We’re constantly looking for new talent to help us raise the quality of our systems to a higher level.

At DSW we work in an in informal and friendly environment. From the start, you will have a lot of responsibility. We work hard but we also play hard: afternoon drinks, skiing trips, pizza, movie nights and barbecues are frequently organized. We don’t work with defined career paths or fancy business cards with difficult job titles. If you show us what you’ve got, there are always possibilities to grow into new roles with more responsibility.

It is true that an education in Computer Science or something similar fits our daily work the best. But don’t be disappointed! You can also enter our IT-traineeship with a PhD in medical sciences. We’re looking for the analytical skills and right motivation to take your development and our IT-department to a higher level. What will your contribution be?

Imagine: a nurse receives and registers information about a patient. She will register this in HiX. But at the same time, HiX makes sure that there is financial handling of all the treatments.
