Hollyhock Fellowship Program through Stanford University
The Hollyhock Fellowship is a two-year experience consisting of two components each year: summer professional learning at Stanford University and virtual coaching during the school year. Applicants should have between 2 to 7 years experience teaching math, science, history, or English; a position at a school where more than 50% of the students qualify for a free and reduced lunch; two or more colleagues applying with them; and support from the school administration. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2018.
California Math Council North Conference at Asilomar
The CMC North Conference is an opportunity to learn with teachers from around the region about math content and pedagogy. Free online course through the Stanford Graduate School of Education
The Understanding Language group at Stanford University is offering a free online professional development course, Integrating Language Development and Content Learning in Math: Focus on Reasoning, to help teachers improve their design and development of learning activities that foster mathematical reasoning and its language. Information about this course and two other offerings is available in a downloadable flyer. The course began on October 3 but can be joined any time at the link above.
Free SFMOMA Pass for Educators
SFMOMA is piloting a new program to grant free admission to San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) TK–12 educators. To qualify for the pass, you will need to attach verification of employment with SFUSD. This verification can take the form of either a recent pay stub or a current school/union ID card. To receive your Educator Pass, please complete the application.
