Learning / ALN / Digital

Learner Journey Review

The Scottish Government recently published the Learner Journey Review . Findings include that parents and family were found to be key influencers on young people’s career choices and learner journeys, both directly and indirectly. Friends were also found to be key influencers, particularly for those who were pursuing apprenticeships or other types of training. Read the full report here.

Criminal Justice

Throughcare prison support scheme "cuts offending"

A scheme that offers inmates extra support as they prepare to leave jail has been credited with cutting reoffending. An independent evaluation found that 78% of prisoners who received Throughcare support in the past two years had not returned to custody.Colin McConnell, chief executive of the Scottish Prison Service, said the aim was to return inmates to their communities as citizens. Read more…

Funding for Charities to Develop an Effective Web Presence

The Transform Foundation has announced that its Transform Foundation's 2017 Charity Website Grant Programme is open for applications. Applications may be submitted at any time. Read more… 


Baily Thomas Charitable Fund

The Trust consider under learning disability the conditions generally referred to as severe learning difficulties, together with autism. In this area, they consider projects concerning children or adults. Deadline for both research funding and project funding in excess of £10,000: 1st December 2017 Application for project funding for £10,000 or less can be submitted at any time.  Read more…


The Weavers Company Benevolent Fund

The Weavers Company Benevolent Fund aims to help young people (aged 15 - 30) at risk of criminal involvement to stay out of trouble and assist in the rehabilitation of offenders, particularly young offenders both in prison and after release.
