Could you use a little Play time?

Welcome to those who signed up for my mailing list during the Longmont Studio Tour, or Diocesan Convention, and to those of you who've been on the list for a long time; welcome back!  There's no time like Fall to embark on new things, so see below for two brand new Play-Shops.  If you've never been to a Play-Shop, please know that there is never any art experience required; the point is to have a fun and creative experience, like we all did spontaneously when we were little kids.  (This is also helpful for people who are artists, which is why I do it!)  Materials are always included, and since I don't have to rent space, the cost can stay affordable.  Here's what's coming up:
Playing with Junk Journals
Saturday Oct 28th or
Monday Oct 30th
9:45 - 12:30

"What's a Junk Journal?" you might ask...  The idea of a Junk Journal is to make a book out of materials at hand, and fill it with whatever you want.  As you can see from the photo above, I like to use mine as a "glue book," and paste magazine pictures and other snippets into them.
In this Play-Shop, we'll build a book out of envelopes and cereal boxes, and then start filling some of the pages, so you won't go home with a blank book that you're afraid to use.  (or am I the only one that is intimidated by a bunch of blank pages...?)
No art experience necessary!
Cost is $25, and all materials are included.

Space is limited, so to reserve a spot please contact
Janet at  303-776-2052  or   janartist@gmail.com

For those of you that visited me during the Longmont Studio Tour, and voted for your favorite pieces of art, there was actually a tie for most popular piece!  Each one of these two pieces received about a quarter of the total votes, which is higher than usual for any one piece!  On the left is The Memory of Trees, made with hand-marbled papers, cardboard, earth pigments, wax, and a skeleton leaf, in a recycled frame.  On the right is The Wheels of the World, made with hand-painted papers on board.  The painting process for the papers, called monoprinting, was my demo during the Tour, and will be a topic of a Play-Shop in the spring!
Coming in November,
Playing with Text
November 18th or 20th

This Play-Shop will explore using hand-written text as a design element, which is an easy way to make unique pieces that can be framed and make great gifts!
You don't have to have "good" hand-writing for this!  The individuality of each person's writing is what makes these pieces so unique!

All materials provided, but you might want to bring a text you'd like to work with; a favorite poem or song lyrics, quote, prayer, or something you wrote.
Just in time to make for holiday gifts!
Cost is $25,
