Midge Ure on tour

Currently on a theatre tour across the UK, Vintage Signature Artist Midge Ure OBE is about to release his latest album 'Orchestrated'.

An album of reimagined and orchestrated versions of Ultravox hits and Midge Ure classic tracks, including Vienna, Dancing With Tears In My Eyes, and If I Was, the album will be released on 1st December, but to coincide with his tour, BMG are offering an exclusive fan pre-sale where you can pre-order ‘Orchestrated’ at the shows or from the official "Orchestrated" online store and receive a signed set list along with a lanyard.

Midge, who alongside his trusty Vintage V100MU Signature Guitar is also an avid fan of the Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister GM40H amp head and is using the current tour to road-test his brand new set-up - we will bring you an interview with the man himself and a look behind the scenes in a future Gear News.

Frank Iero dabbles with Black Magick

Former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero is also touring the UK with his solo project Frank Iero & The Patience.

On the heels of last year's debut album 'Parachutes' the band have just released an EP 'Keep The Coffins Coming' to celebrate the tour which kicked off in September. 

For the tour Frank requested a Supro Black Magic Combo and 1790 Extension Cabinet. "I'm loving the addition of Supro Black Magick to my guitar rig. It's a versatile amp that's easy to tour with. She's strong enough for large venues, and not too overpowering for the smaller gigs. Plus an artist friendly and supportive company, it's the best of all worlds".

London International Guitar Show

Following the success of the inaugural South of England Guitar Show in 2016, Northern Guitar Shows Ltd will be again hosting this superb guitar show, now re-branded the show as The London International Guitar Show to reflect the high volume of overseas exhibitors and visitors.

Held at Kempton Park Racecourse on Sunday 29th October 2017 from 10am to 4.30pm, the event will follow the extremely successful model that NGS Ltd have with their shows North where they have had more than 60 events in the last 20 years including the annual North West and Merseyside Guitar Shows.

In line with their other well-established events, this show features an affordable entrance fee for visitors, free parking and good transport links including proximity to the motorways and a railway station in the venue grounds.

With 180 exhibitors, there will also be live music included in a separate hall with bands, workshops and demos. The show is based on the American style of table-top exhibition and is very much a retail event with buying, selling and trading of new, vintage and used guitars, amps, pedals and accessories encouraged. 

NGS Ltd sponsors Vintage, Fret-King and BluGuitar will be in attendance with an large range of instruments, plus amplification from Hughes & Kettner and Supro, effects pedals from Xvive and Pigtronix and much more!

Syd Arthur own the tone!

UK psychedelic jazz-rockers Syd Arthur have just released their latest album 'Apricity' on the Harvest Records label.

Formed in 2004 by brothers Joel and Liam Magill plus childhood friends Fred Rother and Raven Bush (nephew of Kate) the band have quickly gained a keen following in the UK and USA . Rother was replaced last year by the Magill's younger brother Josh after leaving due to health issues.

Currently on tour in the UK promoting the new album, Liam is over the moon with this latest acquisition - a Danelectro DG66BK.

"The guitar is really something special," says Liam "I've been sessioning at our studio and it's being used a lot on the tracks. I'm really drawn to it and its sound is wonderful".

The band have also been using a combination of Supro amplification, Pigtronix pedals.
