Pieces of Canada still on display!
Pieces of Canada exhibition poster

We reached out into the community, and they responded. Over 140 artefacts have been loaned to the Museum for this exhibition. Community members have provided their artefacts and their idea on what makes it an important story about Canada's past.

Visitors have the opportunity to explore this exhibition with one of our tablets that provides the stories and added content such as video, audio and photos related to the story that the artefact tells.  Check out this wonderful exhibition that was developed by the community. These are personal stories that collectively tell us something about our nation.
Pieces of Canada is on display in the OPG Temporary Gallery until December 31st.

THE CITY OF THE FALLS PROJECT

An old picture of Niagara Falls
Print, titled "Niagara Falls From Falls View Station" a litograph by John A. Lowell out of Boston. Copyrighted 1893.The image shows the Niagara Falls as would be seen today from the Fallsview Casino. Table Rock building is below them, to the left of the image.

The City of the Falls Project was a real estate venture which was developed by some of the most influential men in Upper Canada. They founded the City of the Falls Company and through it sought to establish a large residential city within view of the Falls. The original shareholders of the City of the Falls Company were Lieutenant-General John Murray, Thomas Clark, Samuel Street, James Buchanan, William Allan, John Plenry Dunn, Thomas Dixon and James Robinson. They professed two goals: to make money and to preserve the Falls from vandalism and commercial enterprises.
