Activity Update
October 2017
Exciting milestones were reached on October 13 with the first Ugandan Board meeting taking place. This meeting of highly qualified and passionate people paves the way for registration as Wise Choices for Life in Uganda.

This is a reflective season where we say thank you to both the places or origin and supportive friends and family.
  • Nile Vocational Institute where we met Benson Kwikirisor who was studying law at the time.
  • Then Jenga opened its arms to us and we began to establish our own identify and discover the impact of the training by observing how Jenga put Wise Choices for Life into action. Thank you to Robby Keen and all the Jenga team. This is where we met Grace Munyosi and Joyce Kidulu, who was a Compassion project worker at the time.
  • Peter Adapakin became a trainer and Chair of the Wise Choices for Life committee.
  • During Joyce's early days with Wise Choices for Life we met with Lillian Gimuguni, Registrar of Ugandan Christian University.
  • Dr Nathan Nshakira has been a lifelong friend of the Kidulu family and advises the government on medical programs.
  • Emmanuel Nyiringabo and Rev Francis Osire, trusted friends of Joyce, also willingly take a role on the Board.
  • There are so many other trainers in Uganda and supporters in Australia who have encouraged and donated to the vision of Wise Choices for Life. To all, we say THANK YOU for seeing us to this point in history.
At the time of writing, the Jinja team (under Diana Ferrell) are taking Wise Choices for Life into the Global Theological Seminary where they will be training 74 pastors on how to add sensitive information about sexual health and family planning into their current church work.
The KAMPALA CONFERENCE (4-12 November) is now full and we look forward to another amazing eight days of residential training.

The Bethany Wake Scholarship fund has enabled conference attendance by some that may not have otherwise been able to so.

The translation of the pregnancy and family planning flip-charts are now in Swahili. The Australian team leave soon with 20 kits and training materials.
The prison work has received a huge boost of encouragement with a generous donation from the late Harold Seely Trust. Wise Choices for Life can now support the trainers each week with training and teaching aids, kits and some weekly support to keep this vital ministry thriving. This leaves a powerful legacy of transformed lives.

Once men and women are imprisoned for crimes of a sexual nature there is little chance of rehabilitation on release unless there is a program to redirect and help them self evaluate personal ways of thinking and behaviour. Many of the inmates have not experienced true love in respectful families, so breaking this cycle of abuse needs to start urgently.

Thank you Harold (dec) and Anne Seely for seeing this vision and for supporting Ugandans to help other Ugandans to a brighter, safer future for men, women and children.
