Welcome to the City of Edmonton Downtown Newsletter. This is the spot where we celebrate, learn, share and create unforgettable memories – all against the background of our ever-evolving Downtown.

Open for business: The Downtown Bike Network is now complete!

The final phase of Edmonton's new Downtown Bike Network is now open – formally completing our new 7.8 km cyclist network that allows citizens of all ages to bike throughout downtown in an accessible and all ages space.

The newest phase – a shared-use, protected on-street space on 105 Avenue between 109 and 116 Streets – opened October 23.

We ask users to please watch for signs and pavement markings indicating when it is safe to enter and exit the path. We’d like to also remind everyone to watch for changes during their commute, especially at alleyways.

Impulse loop wows crowds during Design Week events

The City of Edmonton-sponsored Impulse+Loop installation during Edmonton Design Week was a huge success!

More than 14,000 visitors of all ages came to the Quarter’s Armature and Downtown to enjoy themselves at the Nuit Blanche’s 24/7 interactive art playground, which culminated in a nighttime carnival.

The installation was part of the nine day Design Week where citizens were treated to workshops, talks, tours, pop-ups, parties and exhibitions throughout the city’s downtown and surrounding area.

To see some of the excitement, you can explore shots from the carnival photo booth here.
