S1045 & S1046
Open Public Meetings Act &
Open Public Records Act
REFORM
In a move that runs counter to the public interest, local governing bodies are now adopting a resolution opposing legislation that would modernize and strengthen the state’s Open Public Meetings and Open Public Records Acts (OPMA and OPRA). While offering familiar excuses, the truth is that most government officials aren’t interested in expanding public oversight of their activities. Importantly, the resolution, which is nearly uniform from town to town, contains incorrect statements about the reform legislation (S1045 and S1046).

S1045 and S1046 amend the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA) and Open Public Records Act (OPRA), respectively.
