Corsham Walking Festival - Annual General Meeting

Thank you to everybody who attended the Annual General Meeting on 5 October at which we approved the Constitution, elected a new Committee and set out our plans for the next year.

Festival 2018 will be held over the weekend of 8 - 10 June 2018, based again at the Springfield Community Campus.  Planning of the walking programme is underway and we hope to have a good mixture of popular walks from previous festivals as well as a number of new walks.

As this will be our fifth festival, we are considering how to broaden the appeal of the festival by offering walks and activities that will encourage participation by people who do not walk on a regular basis.  We don't plan to run all these activities ourselves, but instead would like to work with local groups who are prepared to organise and run an activity during the weekend.  We have a few ideas of our own - but would love to hear your suggestions!

Of course we can only run the Festival if there are sufficient volunteers to help with the myriad of tasks.  You don't have to be a member of the Committee to become involved, so if you have some time to spare - whether on a regular or occasional basis - there are a variety of ways in which you can help.  If you are interested please contact any member of the Committee.

Walking Opportunities

The Corsham area provides walking opportunities all year round - whether self guided or with a local group.  The Corsham Bookshop and the Tourist Information Centre in Corsham High Street both have a small selection of booklets of local walks available for purchase and in addition there are a number of on line resources.

If you would like to walk with a local group then details can be found on the Visit Corsham website or downloaded here.  You are sure to receive a warm welcome.  If you do not walk regularly with the relevant group, it is advisable to contact them beforehand so they are aware of likely numbers on the walk.
