Voices from the launch

“Through support from Unitaid and our partners in Mozambique and across Africa, the TIPTOP partnership is embarking on a bold project that has the potential to change the way countries across Sub-Saharan Africa prevent malaria in pregnancy,” said Dr. Leslie Mancuso, President and CEO of Jhpiego.
"We are excited to see Mozambique launching the TIPTOP project that will provide pregnant women with a life-saving medicine that protects them and their infants from malaria,” said Lelio Marmora, Unitaid Executive Director.

Elaine Roman
Project Director

The thing about TIPTOP that excites me most is: This project is a game-changer for pregnant women living in sub-Saharan Africa, at risk for malaria.  It is unique because it will influence global MiP policy and set the stage for scale up and sustainability.

Emmanuel 'Dipo' Otolorin,

Senior Regional Programmatic and Technical Advisor

I knew I wanted to work in global health when:
I was trained by Jhpiego in 1981 on reproductive health and maternal and newborn health. I quickly realized that the public health approach to obstetric care was likely to save more lives than the clinical practice approach.

Clara Menéndez

Principal Investigator

My role on TIPTOP is: I am responsible for implementing a set of studies to generate evidence for global guidance on community IPTp-SP.
