In anticipation of its 200th birthday in 2019, Maryville College unveiled its Bicentennial logo and tagline at the 2017 Founder’s Day Celebration. Read more about the logo and tagline, as well as the College’s plans to celebrate the big milestone!

Maryville College alumni came “Home to Howee” to celebrate Homecoming 2017 during the weekend of Oct. 20-22. The weekend included something for everyone: a Homecoming football victory, athletic events, the Harvest Crafts Festival and Bake Sale, parade, Decade Bash, reunions, children's activities, choir performances and awards ceremonies. Retirement Announcements

Two longtime Maryville College leaders will retire at the end of the 2017-18 academic year. The announcement of Dr. Barbara Wells, vice president and dean, was made during the Oct. 27 meeting of the College’s Board of Directors, and Dr. Terry Simpson, professor of secondary education and director of teacher education, also has announced his retirement.

MC Events in Nashville

Maryville College is heading to Music City this month! MC alumni and friends are invited to an evening of fun, food and fellowship on Fri., Nov. 17 from 5-8 p.m. at Cool Springs Brewery in Franklin. Several events also are planned that are designed to help Nashville-area high school students, families and high school educators learn more about MC and what it has to offer. If you know any Nashville-area students who would be a good fit at MC, please encourage them to attend! More details are on the MC website.

Looking for the perfect Christmas gift? Calendars featuring Maryville College student photography are still available! The 17-month calendar features beautiful photos taken by students in Dr. Drew Crain’s Wildlife Photography January Term course. The calendar lists holidays, as well as important MC-specific dates. Visit the MC website for more details on how to purchase a calendar on campus or have one shipped to you!

A Maryville Christmas

MC’s Division of Fine Arts will present “A Maryville Christmas” on Tues., Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Center for the Arts. Seven MC music ensembles will perform during the concert, which will include performances of classic carols and holiday favorites, as well as renditions of contemporary musical celebrations. Prior to the concert, the Blount County Chapter of the MC Alumni Association will host a Christmas Open House from 4:30 until 7 p.m. in Willard House on the MC campus. Read the press release.
