Mad For Plaid Nov 3, 2017

Fall is Here!! Cooler temps are in the air and everyone is mad about plaid. As we transition from the warmer months and preparing for Fall, that brings about flannels, plaids, long sleeve dresses, boots, and cozy knits. At Shabby Chic Boutique in Downtown Frederick MD you can find trendy to classic clothes to suit every taste and style. Owner Christina Christopher is great about staying on top of trends and sharing the latest styles on her Facebook and Instagram pages. I stumbled across this cute and stylish A-frame plaid dress with a pair of flats and I had to have it. I went in to visit Shabby Chic, tried on various options for Fall dresses but I soon found I too, was MAD for PLAID!! The great thing about Christina’s boutique is they have personal stylists that get to know you and your likes and dislikes, and can pull clothing for you to try on in the dressing room.
They help you pick items that are flattering and help you to accessorize too. Now, I have the accessory thing down as a Director and consultant with Magnolia and Vine where we offer snap jewelry and accessories (handbags, winter wear, etc.) but I’m always looking for comfy, chic fashions to show off our jewelry and Shabby Chic suits my style perfectly.

For this outfit I chose a classic pendant with a pretty boho-like snap for my top necklace. Then layered it with a beaded chain and another classic boho option; the Dreamcatcher pendant and black dazzle snap. On my wrists I went with options to pick up the reds and carry the black of the hat and shoes, on the other. Then finished it off with a big berry colored snap ring. Layering is fun with jewelry and with Magnolia and Vine, it’s oh so versatile. Just change up your style in a snap and in no time you become #snaphappy.
I chose the very dress I saw in her post
red and blue plaid with tan suede elbow patches, plus those suede Mary Jane flats in black. I thought I had the perfect outfit when Christina suggested a floppy bohostyle hat to go with it. Not always a hat girl, I fell in “hat love.” I knew exactly where I was going to where this outfit too. It was the perfect choice for a daytime outing with girlfriends at Springfield Winery and Distillery located just outside of Thurmont MD.
I did add my own flair to the overall outfit – a black bralette and an offwhite extender slip. If you haven’t tried one of these you must check them out. Just a little lace peeking out the bottom makes all the difference. Both were purchased at Shabby Chic on previous visits, but they worked perfectly with the A-line, scoop-neck selection. Let’s talk comfort—the dress is a cozy brushed knit almost like a blanket but not too heavy. It’s surprisingly warm and brightly colored. It got noticed right away. Before I knew it or got a glass of wine, people were complimenting me on my outfit. Perhaps it was the hat, or the brightly colored plaid pattern but in any case, it was a fun outfit for a day with the girls and a little sangria
Overall it was a well, put-together outfit that worked great for an outdoor venue with live music. However I could see myself wearing this almost anywhere; out to dinner, shopping, to a party, a festival, or just a night on the town. I normally go straight for the boots in the Fall but sometimes you need some footwear that transitions you from season to season and these brushed suede flats are just the option. We didn’t do a lot of walking but they were super comfortable even during the first wear. During my outing at Springfield Winery, it got a little warm outside so we opted to head indoors where it was cooler, and this made for some great photos with the wine barrels. Springfield Winery also boasts some beer options too. They have a cozy atmosphere with a spacious patio, indoor tasting room and they host special events and weddings in two very unique rooms. We went from patio to tasting room and the dress was a perfect option for the weather, and the hat even provided a little protection to shield the sunshine
All in all, the weather, the music, the company, the wine and sangria, and especially my outfit, were a hit. I told about 5-6 people who complimented me to head to Downtown Frederick to check out Shabby Chic’s Fashion Boutique. And to top off the afternoon, I ran into an old college friend and sorority sister and we just had to get a photo!! Thanks Shabby Chic for my awesome Fall outfit and your super on-trend fashions. Definitely suits my style and why I continue to be one of your best customers. I am sure you will see me soon!!
