What's New?

Industry Updates, Recent Wins, and Hiring News

Phew, fiscal year end is over!  We hope the end of government fiscal year 2017 was fruitful for all.  We’re excited to announce some big news about recent wins, opportunities to join the team, and some other areas to Engage in.

Recent Wins:

MetaPhase Consulting, teamed with partner Booz Allen Hamilton, was awarded a two-year, $4M prime award to provide Project Management Office (PMO) support for the OPM’s most critical, high visibility initiative called the Trust Funds Modernization Program.  The team of approximately 10 staff will work to reengineer business processes, select and oversee a technical integrator, and deploy a solution to manage financial functions for Federal Staffs’ Retirement and Health Benefits government-wide.

Growing the MetaPhase Team:

This quarter, we have experienced some significant growth and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our new team members!  Check out the newest all-stars in our lineup!
Antonio Bradley
Antonio is a PMP and ITIL-certified veteran in the Federal Consulting space with expertise in governance, portfolio management, and capital planning projects.  He is already known within the firm for his unwavering optimism and glass-half-full attitude (even as a Redskins fan!)  In addition to his professional endeavors, Antonio finds time to sit on the Parent Advisory Council of Inova Children’s Hospital - check out our Giving Back section below where we highlight his contributions in this role.

Connor Booth
Connor is a PMP certified expert in IT investment management, Enterprise Architecture, Project Management, and acquisition strategy.  He excels in what we like to call “verbal jujitsu” - he has a gift for articulating a path forward and resolving disagreements in the most complex of situations.  He’s so good that we’re even able to overlook the fact that he’s a UVA grad! (Note: That biased joke is only funny to half of MetaPhase.)

Danielle Toole
Danielle recently returned to the U.S. after living overseas for a number of years posted at the Embassies in Nepal & Abu Dhabi.  She is a legend in the International Development community and someone we’ve been targeting to get on board since seeing her in action on a large system implementation project nearly five years ago.  Prior to her consulting career, she was a marine ecologist and statistician with the Peace Corps.

David Weinraub
David is a PMP-certified program manager with more than 15 years of project management and IT experience in Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC), IT governance, strategic analysis and planning, metrics development, and project and portfolio management.  David is a consistently calm and focused presence in the face of the ups and downs of Federal programs.

Michael Lee
Michael joins us from Grant Thornton where he excelled within DHS and a variety of other markets in modernizing Federal Financial Management Systems and associated processes.  Michael is a guru when it comes to Federal CFO-related IT initiatives.

Alex DiCaprio
Alex is a PMP-certified Project Manager with over 10 years at Big 5 Management Consulting firms.  He brings a deep IT expertise to project controls activities, and is passionate about the transition to Agile practices.  If there is a new tool or methodology helping to innovate the market, chances are that Alex is all over it.

Dan Buraga
Dan is a career-changer who adds great diversity to the skill sets of the team.  He spent the bulk of his career creating and leading a non-profit.  He’s passionate about project management and obtaining a certification in the area from UVA while supporting a new project controls initiative.

The MetaPhase Mentality in Action

You may have seen this graphic floating around LinkedIn over the past year.  As soon as we saw it, we knew we wanted to incorporate the concept into our values as a company.  As consultants, even if we bring the right expertise, we face new client environments with steep domain-related learning curves.  With new projects kicking off, this is especially important to keep on the top of our minds.  Getting these 10 things right will help us build trust with our clients while we come up to speed on the specifics of their environment.  Add talent and expertise to these qualities and it’s a formula for huge success.

Giving Back: Board Service

Giving back is a corporate commitment at MetaPhase but it’s also something our team members take to heart and live out through personal endeavors.  Take a look at some of the ways we are serving organizations based in our community.

Sara LaPorta, Board Member - SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders)
In July 2017, Sara LaPorta joined the Board of Directors for SMYAL’s (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders).  SMYAL supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in the Washington, DC, metropolitan region.  Sara experienced a very positive and accepting coming out many years ago and wanted to find a way to give back to the community to ensure that LGBTQ youth who aren’t as fortunate in their coming out experience have a safe space to learn, grow and love.  Through youth leadership, SMYAL creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to build self-confidence, develop critical life skills, and engage their peers and community through service and advocacy.  Committed to social change, SMYAL builds, sustains, and advocates for programs, policies, and services that LGBTQ youth need as they grow into adulthood.  Sara will be lending her Finance background and consulting experience to support the organization’s Treasury and Governance Committees.

Antonio Bradley, Parent Advisory Council Member - Inova Children’s Hospital
Since 2013, Antonio has been a member of the INOVA Children's Hospital Parent Advisory Council (PAC) since 2013, serving as a sounding board to help assess hospital initiatives from a patient’s perspective to determine if they may help families who rely on the hospital services.  Antonio has a deep personal connection to the hospital, where his daughter was born with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) that required multiple surgeries and long stays.  He recently shared, “During my daughter’s initial time in the hospital, we experienced common issues and problems that many parents and families face, and we were able to share some recommendations with hospital coordinators from a parent’s perspective that may make the experience easier for both families and staff (nurses, specialists, etc.)  Because of the input we provided, the organizer and chairperson of the board invited my wife and I to participate.”  They meet once a month with a small group of hospital staff and other parent participants to advise/share information on patient and family experiences, make recommendations on potential opportunities to improve experiences, and review key hospital performance measures to see how INOVA is performing in comparison with similar hospitals throughout the US.
