Dear <<First Name>>,

Hi there! If this is your first issue of Alumni Currents, welcome, we are glad you are reading this! If you have been receiving this newsletter, you will notice the redesign. In this redesign, we have adopted a single column format to allow for continuous scrolling and mobile-device friendly (mobile-friendliness).

In this issue, you will read about recent and upcoming alumni events, campus news, our plans to celebrate the university's 125th birthday on Dec. 7, and more. We want you to stay connected with WWU, and we welcome your feedback.

As I write to you for the first time and begin my fifth month as your alumni and parent relations director, I thank you, Walla Walla University alumni, for what you have done to make WWU what it is today, a special home for many.

Help WWU students by donating to the
Walla Walla University Fund

We’re celebrating our 125th birthday this year, but our students' needs remain the same. They still need community, quality academic programs, fully-equipped learning and living facilities—and most of all, they need your financial support in gaining their educations. Your gift to the Walla Walla University Fund helps provide these things. To support our students, click here. Thank you for your gift!

Alumni gathered at Rosario in August

Rosario Weekend is our annual event that takes place on our coastal campus in Anacortes, Wash. This year, a group of about 100 alumni and their families enjoyed worship times with Paul Dybdahl, Professor of Mission and New Testament; Doug Tilstra, Vice President for Student Life and Mission; and WWU President John McVay. Plan now to join us next year! The weekend is scheduled for Aug. 23-25, 2018, and our guest speaker will be Carl Cosaert, Theology professor. Click here for more information.

Alumni hold weddings on campus

Western Wedding University (the tongue-in-cheek name for the acronym of WWU) is alive and well with several weddings taking place this summer. Two of the weddings took place on our very own Centennial Green. Congratulations to our alumni who have recently tied the knot. We wish you God’s blessings as you begin this phase in your life. Wedding couples pictured below: Jeremy and Kristiana (Heinrich) Rood, and Ryan and Bridget (Bechtel) Whitehead.

Service Day—25th Anniversary

On Oct. 11, more than 500 currently enrolled students registered to participate in Service Day! There were more than 30 projects to choose from, including garden cleanup at Fort Walla Walla, repainting shelter walls at the YWCA, playing bingo with residents at local retirement homes, and offering grounds support for the College Place School District, among others. This year marked the 25th anniversary of Service Day. Started as part of the Centennial celebration in 1992 as a way to give back to our community, many agencies we served then continue to be served on WWU Service Day on an annual basis.
