Keep reading to learn more about what's been going on at Global Samaritans this past month! There has been so much going on here from a big event at the Corry house, fun days here at the orphanage and our growing children's ministry.

Zam Jam Takes Wing

This month we saw a huge growth in Zam. (short for Zambia) JAM (Jesus And Me). Working in conjuction with Sons of Thunder Primary School, Zam. JAM gives the students a safe, fun place to learn more about God. Each Friday at 10:00am the !st, 3rd, and 5th graders from the local school, including some of our own Global children, come to Global to kick off the day. Then at 11:30am they go to school and the 2nd, 4th, and 6th graders come to take their place. And finally at 1:00pm the 7th graders round out the day by coming to visit us at Zam JAM.
Each group gets a fun time of playing games and running around getting out some energy. Then we have a time of singing songs and worshiping together. We tell them a bible story as we're working our way through the key stories of the bible to show how they all point towards God's redemptive story and Jesus' saving grace through the cross. Lastly we meet their physical needs by filling their stomachs. Each week more and more students have been coming with a hunger, not only for lunch, but to learn more about the Word of God
Watch this video for a taste of what goes on each Friday at Zam JAM!

Independence Day

This month we celebrated Zambia's 53rd birthday. The kids had the day off school for the holiday and we partied Zambian style with singing and dancing. Sons of Thunder Primary put on a show and a program celebrating their independence. It was so wonderful seeing the children taking such pride in their homeland.

Our Global kids got to be involved in the day's festivities through dancing and singing. Gideon and some of his friends even preformed a rap about their Zambia n and Tonga culture. We were so proud of the active role so many of our kids took in the day's festivities and the program the school put in for all of the people in the community. There were no fireworks or hot dogs at this independence day celebration but a whole lot of Zambian pride.

Water Day

This past month the temperature was rising rapidly so when the kids had a day off school we dicided to make it a "water day." It was not an easy task and ended up involving a trip to the next village's well but we finally got the water and had some awesome activities planned to help the kids cool off and have a blast.

What better way to spend a "summer" day then to kick it off with a chalk contest? We then played many different relay races and different challenges and activities that left the kids soaking wet and grinning ear to ear. They were able to win different treats and prizes along the way and had a fun time competing against each other to win a game or just to get the most wet.

New Reading Program

Global has initiated a new reading program based off of the A.R. programs institutded in many American schools. The kids read books and then are given quizes to see what they remember and have understood from the books and then are rewarded points based on how they do. At the end of the year, we'll be having a party for all participants and those with more points will recieve different rewards for their hard work. Since we started this program a few weeks ago, it is not uncommon to find any of our kids sitting up at the picnic tables or on a rock under a tree somewhere reading a book. We are so grateful for everyone who gave to the book drive and were able to provide so many new books for our children to be able to practice their reading skills and learn more about the world around them! There are books for all reading levels, from high school students to the little ones still in the second grade. It has been so wonderful to see the kids getting so engaged in books and reading and learning! A big thank you to Kim Woolbright and Usborne Books for organizing the book drive!

Corry House Concert

On October 6th, Global Samaritans had it's annual concert at the Corry House. From yummy meals and our cool Zambian shop to a cool concert from some local talent, there was a little something there for every.

Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support to Global Samaritans to benefit the children's home. Because of your love and donations we were able to raise over $7000 to help support the ministry at Global Samaritans Children's Home!

How Can I Get Involved?

There are several ways you can get involved in what's going on at Global Samaritans. So many ways to get plugged into what God is doing in the hearts and the lives of the people of Zambia. The most important thing you can do is pray for the ministry we are able to accomplish here. We need God's help as we minister to the kids here and the people in the surrounding villages.Pray for us as we attempt to pour God's light and love in the hears of the kids here at the children's home; as we attempt to grow mature, productive, Christian young men and women to go out and change the world. Pray for us as we go out into different villages around us to teach and disciple them on what it really means to live out the Christian life.
Another way you can be a part of what's going on at Global is to sponsor a child. They money that goes towards supporting a child helps provide them with food, clothing, school, housing needs and everything it takes to help a growing child succeed here in Zambia. These kids come from difficult situations but here at Global they are able to find a home and a family that loves them.
Your support helps give these kids a home and a family here at Global Samaritans when the rest of the world hasn't shown them much love at all. When you sponsor a child we'll keep you updated with letters and messages from the kids to help you keep in touch and build a relationship with the child you sponsor.

The last way you can be involved with Global Samaritans is coming to serve on a team trip. On a team trip you will have the opportunity to serve both here at Global and in some of the surrounding villages. You'll build connections with the children and get to experience the local culture and life style.
You also get to spend a day or two taking in some of the sights of Africa, including Victoria Falls and even a safari to get a taste of Africa's wildlife. This life changing trip allows you to get a taste of exactly what our ministry here at Global is all about and allows you to be God's hands and feet to the country of Zambia.
