Cats in North Glenora

Hello everyone

Over the past several weeks, there has been an increase in pets, but more specifically cats either being lost or found in North Glenora. One of the most frequent comments/complaints I receive in my role as security liaison on the North Glenora Community League Board has to do with pets -  dogs being walked off leash, cats wandering into yards, owners not cleaning up after their pets.  These are all bylaw issues, under the City of Edmonton.  I have sent out a number of reminders regarding the importance of responsible pet ownership, but it is a problem that continues.

With November arriving, and with it the snow, the weather creates yet another hazard for cats who are are allowed to roam free outside.  While I know there are a lot of animal lovers in our community who are concerned for the safety and well-being of a cat wandering out on its own (we do have frequent coyote sightings in our community) there are people who are not a fan of encountering a cat on their property.

With that said, there are currently two lost cats in North Glenora.

The first one is Cy, who has been missing for a week.  Cy is a female, who was seen for several weeks in the area of 139 St/107 ave (there were two  posts on social media about Cy).  Cy's family is still looking for her.

Next, we have this little unaltered male kitten, who wandered into a home in North Glenora on Halloween. The resident plans to hold onto him for a few days before surrendering him to Animal Care and Control.

If you have any information about either of these kitties, please contact ngcl.safety@gmail.com
