Unashamed
Paul said it well: “I am unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Are you unashamed of Christ?
When he said that, Paul was heading to Rome, the capital of the world. Pagan, proud, philosophic, with its bloody coliseums and palaces that emphasized its wealth and magnificence, Rome was godless, sinful, and dying. Yet, Paul declared that he was UNASHAMED! Because of that attitude, Paul shook up the world, not just in Rome, but everywhere he went. He changed everything, because he had no shame.
There were several things Paul was unashamed of:
1. He was unashamed of Christ (Galatians 2:20). He had one passion and that was to hide himself behind Jesus Christ. He was completely unashamed to face an intellectual and say, “Jesus is Lord of my life.”
2. He was unashamed of his message. The gospel, the good news of Jesus, is the power of God to salvation. Everyone must be saved from their sins. The reason we have the gospel or good news is because there is bad news - anyone who has not placed their faith in Jesus as the only way to salvation will be condemned by God in the final judgment.
3. He was unashamed of his life. Consider Paul:
* He, at times, was not well received. He cared not.
* He, at times, was persecuted. He cared not.
* He was imprisoned. He cared not.
Paul lived as a Christian. There is a very old question that we should consider today: “If you were arrested and charged with being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”
When one person really meets Christ, when one person is grateful, when one person is unashamed of Christ, it sends shock waves through the spirit world. Demons suddenly know you are alive. Angels rejoice at your courage and lives are touched and changed.
The power of one bold man or woman is what writes history - whether it is a boy like David, or a man like Paul, or you.
