We build solutions to real world problems by providing an environment where we turn theory into practice and learning means doing.
At Octanis, we believe in sharing - tools, but also experiences. To share experiences, we invite people whose work and mindset inspire us to present their work at our open nights. Want to learn about how an EPFL spin-off takes flight, how DNA damage detection can be performed in a participatory way, or why field sensors can both make or break a research project? We're looking forward to seeing you at the next presentations!

We are also happy to share our own experiences with the community. One such occasion is next week's Symposium on Participatory Research of the Société Vaudoise des Sciences Naturelles, where we present our experience with the rack.

To share tools, we have put in place our racks, and organise weekly workshops where curious people get acquainted with the tools that allow them to get started on their projects.

We are looking forward to seeing you at one of these events!
Last month's highlights

Advancing on the Nestbox Project

After working on a first prototype and performing some tests concerning range and reliability on it, we concluded that a different strategy is needed. We're now working on a second prototype and testing different technologies. A throw-back? Of course not! Learning is all about iterating.

Advancing on the Rover Project

Sending a rover to Antarctica and getting it back safe and sound is not the end of a mission - by far not. We are currently working on extracting all the data from the rover, so that we can analyse its performance and learn valuable lessons for the next mission - but also so that we can see whether the sensors which we mounted on the rover worked as they should! Subscribe to this Youtube Playlist to see first extracts of the rover's camera images and sensor data!
We were also having some guests from UC Louvain in Belgium over last week who worked on improving the rover's stereo vision.
