Build

In October, LifeBridge studied Nehemiah and his decision to return to his homeland and his decision to do something— to BUILD. Nehemiah decided to face, head-on, the God-sized challenge of rebuilding the wall surrounding Jerusalem and creating a safe place for his people. And through his story, we find the tools we need to face the challenge of impacting our city. It's time to BUILD.

In light of this study we asked our Ministry Leadership Team: What do you build for?  Over the next several months we will share this with you their response, so you can meet our team and hear how they want to impact the kingdom.

Building Together

The people of LifeBridge

Josh was one of the first people we met when we moved to Panama.  We were told he had not been coming to the church for very long but that he had been a part of the worship team.  As we got to know Josh is was evident that he was a skilled musician (playing multiple instruments on a Sunday morning) but more than that he desired to bring others into authentic worship. Josh now serves as our Worship Lead. It has been encouraging to see Josh take on leadership and step out in faith as he leads our worship ministry and those who serve with him.

Josh is Chinese-Panamanian and also spent time in the States studying and then returned to Panama where he works as an Engineer. He is one of the many who make up our multicultural community.

Martin Luther and Church Planting

During the last week of October, we had the opportunity to be in Oberursel, Germany with the International Baptist Convention  (IBC) for the Annual meeting as well as getting to be assessors for the Church Planters Assessment Center. Being a part of this network of churches as been so encouraging and hearing stories of the way God is working through International, English-speaking churches all over the world was incredible.  It was especially great for us to be a part of the assessors to look at potential church planters.  As you may remember, we went through this process about 18 months ago.  The process made such an impact on us and we were honored to serve in this capacity.

The meetings in Oberursel coincided with the 500 year anniversary of the reformation as well. What a blesing to be at the spot where Martin Luther was 500 years ago.
Visiting the Martin Luther Monument in Worms, Germany only a few days before the official 500th Anniversary on October 31.
In each newsletter we will share a tid-bit about Panamanian life. Something unique, interesting or fun.

So we have told you that traffic here in Panama is crazy.  Well, let's just say these bad boys don't help things very much.  This here is a Diablo Rojo (Red Devil). Yes, one of the forms of public transportation are called Red Devil buses.  You will find these buses in many Latin American countries and Panama is no different.  Diablo Rojos are all different- each one painted the their own unique colors, with images and words. They are also known for having some crazy drivers, so it's best to stay clear when you see one coming.

Praise & Prayer

We deeply appreciate your prayers for us and LifeBridge.

  • Praise for our growing Ministry Leadership Team.  The initial members of this group was one of the first things we noticed about LifeBridge. A group of people passionate about the vision of LifeBridge.  We praise God for a solid group that is committed to the church, each other, and most importantly Christ. We are blessed to serve alongside this group.
  • Holidays. November and December are very busy holiday months in Panama (5 or 6 in total- we lose track:).  Pray that we will be able to connect with people who find themselves staying here for holidays and for quality time with many who have extra time off from work during these months.
  •  Leadership. Pray as we continue to meet as a Ministry Leadership Team.  Pray that our group would have unity and that as a group we set the tone for the rest of the congregation.
  • Guidance. Pray for wisdom as we take on roles preaching, leading and shepparding the LifeBridge community.
Thank you for you prayers and support!
