The Advocacy triathlon has begun!

With Community Input Meetings last week as well as this, our advocacy triathlon is almost through the first stage. Each one depends on your input and involvement, as our team continues to not just work for you, but with you, to better coalesce our advocacy efforts for the safety and success of all DC youth.

So thank you for participation, not just past and present, but future as well!

We also want to note that November is National Youth Homelessness Awareness Month. We'll be sharing news, facts, and resources on our social media channels throughout the month. And we'll be focusing our blog on Youth Homelessness, beginning with our most recent one which you can catch toward the end of this email.

DCAYA White Paper: Federal Budget Impacts on DC

This document is intended to provide an evolving picture of how the 2018 Federal Budget could impact DC children, youth, families and the organizations that serve them. As you review the following chart, keep in mind that due to the federal funding cycle, any decisions made in the FY2018 Federal Budget will not - generally - impact DC funding until FY2019. We will continue to update this document as information is made available and decisions are made.

Needs Assessment of Out-of-School Time Programs in the District of Columbia

In case you haven't seen it yet, check out this DC Policy Center report, published just last week.

"This report describes the current landscape of out-of-school time (OST) programs in the District of Columbia. It takes stock of existing OST programs and assesses the extent to which these programs are meeting the needs of children and youth attending D.C. public and public charter schools. The report focuses on “subsidized” OST programs—programs that receive funding from the federal government, D.C. government, or private foundations."

We'd love to hear what you think, how it relates to your own work, and if you'd like to learn more about how this informs our own FY2018 advocacy efforts.
