News and Updates on Regular Issue Notes
We are still busy listing notes. Most of them are up, but we still have a way to go. Most of the remaining inventory are older circulated notes and "
One Only Banknotes" I urge you not to forget to check this section. We've listed the older motes at great prices and they make nice fillers in your collections until you find it in a better grade and you have the budget to upgrade. I did this a lot when I first started collecting, and it was a nice way to build an interesting little collection on a budget. It also helped me determine the note was one that I wanted to pay a lot out for in a better grade.. .
Anyway, we are through most of the bulk items and starting to work our way through the boxes of individual notes. These will be mostly old, lower grade notes, but hopefully there will be some "gems" in their.
As for new notes, I am expecting the new India 2,000 and 500 Rupee notes shortly, and the new Nepal note sometime next week. New notes that are scheduled to be issued in the near future are the England 10 pound note and the 20 and 100 Shekel notes from Israel notes . We also expect a commemorative 100 Ngultrum from Bhutan to be released soon.
Finally, I have the new
North Korea notes. These are commemorative issues, overprint of 2002 notes released in 2014 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Kim II Sung. We are technically not allowed to sell these notes due to the embargo, but if you are interested please email and I can see what I can do to help.

Thank you all so much, I am so grateful to all of you, not only for your continued support and purchases, but also to the continued interest in these "sleep aids/newsletters" it is so nice to know that most of you seem to enjoy getting these (or don't have time to unsubscribe) Thank you again, I can't say this enough - Robert
New Feature & Updates on the Website
We now have world banknote collections and then the world banknote collection search box. We then switched the fun note collections above the fun note search box so they are in the same order.
The collections on the home page are now broken out in the following way:
- New additions to website a) Regular Notes b) Fun notes
- Back in Stock a) Regular Notes b) Fun notes
- One only banknotes a) Regular Notes b) Fun notes
- Fun 2017 Notes a) Regular Notes b) Fun notes
I hope this helps with searching and navigating the website. This change came from a very much appreciated suggestion from one of our customers. We also welcome the comments (all positive, thank goodness) on this change. We also agreed it would be easier to separate out the regular and fun notes, although I know many of you collect both.

Notes on Featured Notes on list - Written by Katie (I'd tried to take a snow day today, but as we work from home my father denied my request!)
Libya
Issued last year, a nicely designed and colored new banknote for Libya. I find the back depicting Zeus temple in Cyrene interesting. Personally I suppose I'd forgotten Cyrene's importance in the ancient Greek world. The temple of Zeus was constructed in the 5th century BC and was larger than the Parthenon in Athens! A truly interesting and beautiful note that I'm glad to have on our website.
Seychelles
More of the new Seychelles set- I won't get tired of these notes. Most of you (from newsletters before) know how excited my father and I were to be able to pick these up at the FUN show. I know lots of you have already bought some of these great notes, what a beautiful addition to any collection.
South Africa
My father just tossed a book in my lap and told me to read about these notes. What is interesting is the use of the two languages: English and Afrikaan. When you look at the note you can easily see the incorporation of the two languages, but what makes these different is the position of the languages changes. Sometimes Afrikaan is first followed by the English translations, and sometimes it's vice-versa. Afrikaans appears as the first language on the 2, 10, and 50 rand, while English is the first language on 5 and 20 rand. In 1990 the notes were redesigned and issued in 1992 without the flipflop language. An easily overlooked design that makes this note more interesting. However, I think what makes the note fascinating is the portrait of the man who appears on all the older notes. Supposedly, and widely recognized as Jan van Riebeek it is now thought that the portrait is actually that of Bartholomeus Vermuyden . If you are interested to explore this more
here is a good article, and let us know your thoughts!
The right is a portrait of Jan van Riebeek and the left is Bartholomeus Vermuyden
Hong Kong
Another FUN show find, a great note from Hong Kong. Issued by HSBC "The Lion Bank" therefore of course featuring the Lion statue head. It makes sense that HSBC banks in China have the iconic bronze Lion Statues outside, but I didn't know that the HSBC in London also now has the lion statues guarding their headquarters at Canary Wharf. The statues in London are replicas of a pair that have guarded the bank's Hong Kong headquarters since 1935.
Haiti
We warned you that we picked up lots of notes last month at the FUN show, more evidence of that (as if you needed any) is this bicentennial commemorative note from Haiti. Born out of a slave revolt, Haiti became an independent nation on January 1, 1804. This note was issued in 2004 to commemorate that independence and is a great note to add to a collection.
Hungary
Any of you who have read the newsletters or my blog know my fondness for the Hungarian Forint. We picked up several different notes from the FUN show and if you've not had the chance I wrote a blog recently about my trip to Hungary and why I am such a fan of these notes. Check it out
here:
Indonesia
Another great find from the FUN show is this Indonesian note from 1977. I really like the colors on this note, as well as the design and orchids. I think it's a shame that this design was only in use for a few years until the note was reprinted with a new design less than five years later.
Suriname
Suriname never disappoints me with beautiful, vibrant, and interesting notes. The toucans started appearing on the banknotes around 1986 and can be seen through the 2000 issue. I was sad to see the newer notes toucan-less, at least we have lots of beautiful notes with the bird to choose from - like this one from 1988 (Ironically my birth year - I'm not afraid of announcing my age unlike me VG grade father!).
Other Interesting Items ..
I try from time to time to feature a banknote with an interesting story. This one I think meets this criteria very well. Firstly, this is listed as a real note, but I suppose technically in the real terms this is contentious. From what I have learned from the little research I did on this this note was not authorized by the bank to be printed. Nonetheless, someone managed to get an order sheet for new notes to be printed and they were printed under the "unauthorized" authorization. I couldn't find how many were printed or when the "error" was discovered, - you can differentiate between the official authorized and unofficially authorized note by the gap in prefix letter. This unauthorized note has a large gap between the letters.
What I find interesting is how this ever happened in the first place, and actually what the person was hoping to gain (if anything) by ordering these notes, as surely they would have been delivered to the bank. Maybe it was a genuine mistake, but it would seem unrealistic to think that someone could just order banknotes.
Anyway, a fun fact about this note, sadly only one available though, so possibly the error was caught before t many were printed. This is the first unauthorized note I have seen. I was lucky to pick this one up at the FUN show.

Fun Notes
As promised last time, here is the
blog on the fantasy island of Eklisivia from Celsus (we are awaiting more information on the
Sima Senco series of notes for this fantasy land blog). These were two new fun note issued from Celsus that were introduced at the FUN show. If you missed them please check them out; a beautiful banknote creation.
I really enjoy these Nederland series of note. As you may remember I was mis-informed about the designer of these notes. Although the great banknote artist, Celsus, did create a couple from this series the other one was created by Frank Medina and this new series is also created by Mr. Medina. Sadly, I don't know Frank Medina, but I really like his work and these notes are a great example of his amazing work.
I hope soon to be introducing the work of Matej, who I understand is issuing a new series of notes soon, and I am trying to pick up some of his older work. However, sadly for me, a lot of this has now sold out. However, I will definitely keep everyone updated on his notes when I get them in.

REMINDER - ART WORK SALE - ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT.
Tom and I talked about how to help raise the money for his new computer and he agreed that we could sell all the
US state notes artwork on the website at 50%off. To be clear, this applies only to the artwork and not the notes themselves. So if you have been eyeing these pieces of art, this is a great time to pick up one of the originals or prints.
This will make his original artwork $125 and his prints (limited to 5 only - some are 3 only) between $15 and $20. This Jimmy Carter print (the original has already sold) is an fine example of Tom Stebbin's artwork (just look at the way he uses small lines to create the drawing - he does this all free hand). Hopefully, we can help him get his new computer (just as an aside, as you can see there is little money in what Tom does, he does it for love of art. He is a true starving artist in my opinion. THIS SALE WILL END FEB 15th, 2017.

NB: Please don't think I am ever saying that this can happen to Tom's work, but a sad piece of news on Tom's mentor J. S. G. Boggs who died a couple of weeks ago, at the young age of 62. He was a colorful character and I did see him at the FUN show where they were honoring some of his work. If you get a minute please read this Wikipedia article on him. He was a larger than life character (Tom is definitely much quieter) but it shows how his work, even before his death, was much sought after and now will be even more sought after. I must admit seeing him at the show, he was most definitely was a larger than life character as you will read from this article:

OTHER INTERESTING FUN NOTES
As I have so many more new FUN notes from the show (many listed and still more to list) and as stated above, we have now split the new arrivals into regular and
Fun notes (as well as
One Only and
Back in Stock) I hope this may make it easier to see some of the great new FUN notes I managed to pick up at the show.
I will also try to feature two notes here for a while, as I have managed to obtain so many great fun notes, that I do want to feature as many as possible (
Next time I will feature a couple of the new Arctic Territories notes) Anyway, for this week I wanted to show a nice note commemorating the G20 summit in China in 2016. It has a great design, and could almost pass as a note that could have been issued by the bank. The second one is an interesting "Star Trek" note feature "Spock" this is a Tom Stebbins creation, and at the show it was a very popular item. I think this is one that one stay around long before it is sold out. I only wish he had put a star date on the note, unless of course he did in "Klingon"

Other Notes of Note
I wanted to feature this very unusually designed note from Algeria. The coloration is very interesting, but for me the most amazing depiction is "Ruppell's Sand Fox" .
It is named after the German naturalist Eduard Ruppell. This fox is called the sand fox, but this terminology is confusing because the Corsac fox and the Tibetan sand fox are also known as "sand foxes". However, it is an interesting looking fox, and I believe they are actually a very small fox. I also understand, that the big ears on this fox helps with cooling (not sure why I am so hot in the summer then!)
Anyway, a great looking note and one that I think would make a great talking point in any collection.
