Where is our "head"

Growing up on a farm we had plenty of chickens meandering around at a slow pace.
However when it came time for my father to behead a chicken for supper something startling occurred. The chicken after loosing his head wood run furiously all over, it looked crazy busy!

As Christians we often resemble that chicken when through the cares, toils, and seeming priorities of this life we find ourselves separated from the head of our lives, Christ our Lord.

We live in a fast paced world. Where 'busy' is expected. Keeping up with the Jones's is par for the course.

Yet Paul writes: "Whatever you do work heartily; as for the Lord and not unto men." Colossians 3:23 . Instead of running around like that headless chicken who appeared to be so busy, exerting so much.....our focus should be on Christ. He lovingly says:" My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." Matthew 11:30 Jesus is descibing how you hitch a animal like a horse or ox to haul a load and saying"hey I will make this easy trust me". By putting our focus on Christ we don't loose our heads trying to please people. By abiding in Christ we realize He bore the load for us on the cross. It is Christ whom we must choose to surrender our will to daily, moment by moment.
