Council's Youth Ambassador Program


We are looking for two Japanese speaking teachers (or Japanese speaking bluecard holders), to chaperone 10 students, currently studying Japanese from years 10, 11 and 12 to travel in the coming September school holidays.  Please forward flyers to any that fit the criteria.

Ovarian cancer awareness month

Ovarian cancer has the lowest survival rate of any women’s cancer and has a five year survival rate, well below the average for all cancers.

Each year 1,550 Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 1,200 will die from the disease. That’s one woman every seven hours!

Free learn to skate workshop


Learn to skate in a family friendly atmosphere by an accredited skateboarding coach. All ages and boys and girls welcome.

From 9am to 11am at the following skate parks:

Audition call for Mackay’s Got Talent 2017


Mackay's Got Talent celebrates young people from 12 to 18 years old and their many performing art skills. This audition offers a platform for young people to showcase their talent. 

Auditions will be held on Sunday, February 19 from 8am.

Queensland Women’s Week

International Women’s Day Celebrations from March 6 to 12 promises to be an eventful week of celebrating women in the Mackay region.

Queensland Women’s Week will include an awards night in Sarina and Mackay. This year’s event has added a category, calling for nominations of young women aged 16-25 years throughout the region.

Nominate someone important in your life, nominations are open now until February 20.

Sports Expo & Sign On Day

This Sunday from 9am - 1pm at the MECC, 100 sporting clubs and active recreation exhibitors will be in the one place at the same time. If you’re looking for a new sport to try, this is the place to find it, there is something for all age groups.

Thought about volunteering for the 2018 Commonwealth Games? A representative from the Games will be in attendance for information on volunteering and training.
