Family Day @ the Museum
Celebrate Family Day @ the Museum for FREE! Sit back and enjoy a performance by JUNO-nominated Mike Ford as he explores Canadian history through song @ 11am, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm, make a craft, complete a scavenger hunt and explore the history of our unique city!
Family Day at the Gale Centre
The Gale Centre will be offering free public skating, from 12pm - 3pm on Family Day! In addition to free skating, there will be face painting, magic tricks and a live band! For more information, contact 905-356-7521 ext 5601
Heartland Forest: Winterfest 2017
Bring the family out for a great day of indoor and outdoor activities at Heartland Forest's Winterfest! Admission is free, and the event will be running from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Family Day! Visit www.heartlandforest.org for more information.

Public Art Advisory Task Force
The City of Niagara Falls is asking for those interested, to apply to be a member of the City's Public Art Advisory Task Force (PAATF). The role of PAATF will be to consult with staff, review materials, and make recommendations regarding potential acquisitions and dispositions of works from the collection.
The Task Force will also advise on the development of public art projects and any matters related to the development, promotion, and use of the art collection.
The City of Niagara Falls is seeking applications to represent the following areas:
- Working visual artists or craftsperson, residing in Niagara Falls
- Visual arts community member i.e. curator, arts education person, arts administrator
Interested individuals are asked to apply in writing indicating their interest in one of the above vacancies. Please include a full mailing address and a resume or summary of applicable skills and experience.

New Student Scholarship Launched
The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee of Niagara Falls (MYAC) is excited to launch a new scholarship to recognize Niagara Falls students who have
demonstrated leadership and involvement in their community and/or school throughout their secondary career.
To be eligible for the new MYAC Scholarship students must be Niagara Falls residents in their graduating year, have a minimum average of 75%, and demonstrate leadership and involvement in their community and/or school. MYAC members and their relatives are not eligible to apply.
A maximum of $1000.00 will be awarded per year to one or two students; one award of $1000.00 or two awards of $500.00 each.Applications will be received online. The application deadline is April 30th of each year.

A Test of Time: Stamford, Elgin & Drummondville
The Niagara Falls Municipal Heritage Committee presents “A Test of Time: Stamford, Elgin and Drummondville” on February 18, 2017, 1pm - 4pm, at the Niagara Falls Library, LaMarsh Room, located at 4848 Victoria Avenue.
You are invited to hear about the built heritage of Stamford, Drummondville and Elgin. Our guest speakers (Sherman Zavitz, Ruth-Ann Nieuwesteeg and Phil Ritchie) will share their wealth of knowledge about these areas and how they developed. The event will also host the Third Annual Heritage Recognition Awards.

Recognition of Commitment to the Preservation of Niagara Falls History
The City would like to recognize and congratulate, Mark Richardson, Manager of Cemetery Services, for receiving the Lundy's Lane Historical Society Heritage Award at the Historical Society event on Thursday, February 2, 2017.
This award recognizes Mark's ongoing efforts to preserve the historic monuments and beautifully maintain the grounds of Drummond Hill Cemetery, Historic Site of the Battle of Lundy's Lane.
Congratulations Mark! Thank you for your commitment to the preservation of Niagara Falls History.

MYAC Presents Skate Night!
The Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) presents Skate Night from 8 pm to 10 pm on Saturday February 25th, 2017 at the Gale Centre! This fun opportunity to skate with friends, meet news friends, and learn about MYAC is open to Niagara Falls students in Grades 7 through 12. Admission is free with canned goods or a $2 donation to Project SHARE!

New Exhibition @ the Museum: Snow
Snow, the first exhibition of its kind in Canada, is currently running at the Niagara Falls History Museum until April 15, 2017. The exhibition portrays the amazing love-hate relationship that the inhabitants of this great land have had with snow since the arrival of the First Peoples in North America.

Municipal Tax Notice
Installment due dates for the 2017 Interim Levy are February 28, 2017 and April 28, 2017. Tax notices were mailed on February 7, 2017. Choose from a variety of payment methods, including:
- Mail: Payments may be mailed to P.O. Box 1023, Niagara Falls, ON, L2E 6X5
- In Person: Banks, Credit Unions, Trust Companies in Niagara Falls (up to and including the due date) or at City Hall, MacBain Community Centre.
- Electronic Payments: Pay taxes through your financial institution, or sign up for monthly, pre-authorized payments. Call the City at 905-356-7521 ext 4309.
- A penalty of 1.25% is added on the amount of unpaid taxes (current) on the first day of each month following the installment date. Penalties may not be waived. Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse a taxpayer from the responsibility for payment of taxes and penalty.
