new year, new building, new guest artists.

our new play space!
while we were sad to say goodbye to our beloved cia studios and the wonderful community it housed, we are kick-starting 2017 by settling in to our new studio at 24 brisbane st, perth

it has a studio, offices, a play-space workshop, a store room and a sweet little kitchen. it's close to our creative comrades in northbridge and mt lawley.
we are busily colluding and conspiring on new activities and ways in which we can provide support to friends and peers - locally and afar.

if you are in tha hood, come have a look, we would love to see you!
come say hi,

pvi's 2017 areas of research and      development

above: watching adam curtis' 'hypernoramisation' again and again

in case you were curious about what we are working on post ‘blackmarket’, we are happy to report that new research areas include the rise and fall of a certain libyan dictator, smartwatches as tactical tools and re-envisioning global governance for the 21st century. needless to say, we are pretty darned excited to get stuck in.

we would love to find a way to chat with the indomitable john pilger, a leading political theorist, to consult with us on an emerging new body of work. we're hoping for a personal introduction rather than just splashing into the regular social media channels. so if any out there could make an e-introduction for us, it would be great to hear from you at: projects@pvicollective.com

our first artists in residence of 2017

above: left - alex rinsler. right - are we the one?

before we'd even filled the tea cannisters up, we'd invited two amazing artists to come and play in our new space. [that's a lie. we did have the tea canisters filled up.]

alex rinsler [uk] in residence: 8 feb - 8 mar 2017
we are gearing up to welcome  alex rinsler , a public artist and producer based in the uk and working internationally. he makes large-scale work that focuses on communities, most of which gets burned in the end. for the last year he has been creative lead for blackpool illuminations, arguably the world's oldest and greatest free light show, and he started the lightpool festival there to be a celebration of light and fire. he'll be here in perth from 8 february to 8 march to explore what might be possible with pvi collective. you can check out an interview with him here, from our friends at situate art in festivals.

dr keith armstrong [qld]
and steve berrick [wa] in residence: 20 - 24 feb 2017
and hot on his heels will be
dr keith armstrong and steve berrick.  while we work extensively with steve berrick as our associate artist, this time he's working with dr keith armstrong and david finnigan on are we the one?, a collaborative, performative and relational experience for two people, loosely woven together by a custom digital phone app. we'll be consulting with them on this immersive app-based work and helping them test it. you can see more about the work, the team, and its previous outings here.

Stay tuned for info on upcoming workshops and talks from our guest artists!

the new view from here

want to get involved? watch this space!

we'll be announcing some other activities very soon: if you would like to become an artist in residence at our new building, info and applications will be available soon.

in the meantime, keep up to date on our facebook page and keep your eyes peeled in your inbox.

muchos respect
pvi collective
