Dear Friends of Social Landscapes...

I hope you all had a good start into the new year!

It's February already and, after a busy January, we are preparing to pick up our gardening work and get ready for another Permaculture Design Course, starting in April.

We are glad to be visiting the Remakery, Sutton Community Farm and the Quadrangle again as part of the course and have Duncan, chair of Transition Town Brixton, and Amy from Wild Apothecary as two of our guest teachers.

Before that however, we're sharing some photos from our last Introduction to Permaculture Course last week, as well as the gardening sessions that Mich has been running at Burgess Park Food Project (see below).

Please also find a couple of volunteering or collaboration opportunities below as well.

NEW: We're sharing one core PERMACULTURE PRINCIPLE with each newsletter this year and relating it to some aspect of our work. We're starting today with 'Every Element Performs Multiple Functions'.
Permaculture Principle 'Every Element Performs Multiple Functions' and how it relates to our work and our livelihoods in general.
The Permaculture Association published a short version of the 5 stories Sophie has been writing about our Permaculture Design Course participants.
The next 2-day Introduction to Permaculture course is in March at Sutton Community Farm. We have a free info evening scheduled for March 1st at Treadwell for all those intrigued by Permaculture, not sure what it is and maybe considering taking a course.

Training for Food Growers Working Group

In collaboration with Incredible Edible Lambeth (IEL) we are aiming to form a working group building on the training that we and IEL ran last year.

We will discuss ideas on offering more trainings in more gardens across Lambeth. We're hoping to develop a coherent year-long programme that includes horticulture and growing qualifications for those participating.

If you are keen to join the conversation and planning or think you might have specific skills and networks that can take us forward, please join us at Open Project Night at the Impact Hub in Brixton on Monday February 20th, 6.30 pm.

If you can't make the 20th, but would still like to join the group, get in touch: michel@sociallandscapes.co.uk.

Below are some quotes and pictures from the last month's activities. You can find more on our facebook page. Thanks Ruth, Manisha and Sid for the pictures.

"I found the Permaculture Principles we learned all relevant to my life. If I never touch a plant again, my life will still have been changed by this experience."

- Daniel, Introduction to Permaculture Course participant

"A really wonderful course. I feel Permaculture is applicable in so many parts of my life and work. Can't wait to keep applying this in practice."
