On January 31, 2017 local dignitaries and elected officials, funders, donors, volunteers, partnering organizations and staff gathered for "A Cause for Celebration" to launch the 40th Anniversary of Women's Centre of York Region.
Over 70 people attended the Open House at the Centre where our 40th Anniversary fundraising campaign, "A Cause for Celebration" was announced. With a goal of raising $40,000 in 2017, the Centre hopes to support an additional 40 women bringing the total women served to 1,000 this year.
“Our continued success and ability to meet the growing needs of women in York Region depends on the support of our community, local businesses and volunteers” explains Catherine Curtis-Madden, Executive Director, "approximately 25% of our operating budget must come from fundraising in order to be sustainable”.
