  • Handicap Parking at GIS: Please respect Oregon State law by leaving the designated ADA handicap parking spot available for those with ADA passes & license plates. 
  • Extended-Care: March Flex Calendars are due Tuesday, February 14th.
    • February 16th has been changed from a full in-service day to a ½ day in-service day from 12:30-6:00pm.  If you need care for this day please contact Ashley.
  • PYP Parent Info Sessions: Please join us on Thursday, February 9th from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. or 2:00 to 2:50 p.m. in the library for a more in-depth look at the Primary Years Programme.  PYP Coordinator, Alexandra McGettigan, along with Stefanie Amann and Frauke Kaminski will share hands-on PYP activities, discuss PYP topics and answer questions you have. Please RSVP to Alexandra McGettigan.
  • Valentine’s Day Get Together: Join GIS parents on February 14th in the lobby at 8:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. on the playground (weather permitting) for time to chat, drink a coffee, and enjoy a little Valentine’s Day treat!

  • Winning isn’t everything: A family enrichment series by Howard Hiton at FAIS on February 8th. More info here.
  • 4th grade silent auction in lobby! The 4th grade classes have been working hard on their Marketing Unit – creating a product, the GIS Stressball, marketing their product with posters, videos, and radio spots, and finally hosting a silent auction. The proceeds of this auction will help fund the overnight trip that the students take each year. Please bid on a stress ball in the lobby between now and Friday!
  • Come to The Green Affair wearing something “green”! Whether that is a green dress or tie, something vintage, bought second hand, or something made of recycled materials, we hope you join us for a night of fun entertainment, delicious food, and philanthropy! Please buy tickets by February 14. 
    • Bid in our online auction: We have amazing packages from local businesses and individuals.  Thank you for bidding high and often in our online auction. We appreciate your support of our school!  
  • GIS Connect Ski Day:  February 19th Mt. Hood Meadows GIS Family Ski Day.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Science Fair Volunteers:  Interested in helping with this year’s Science Fair, then please join Frau Memmer on Friday, February 10th at 8:00am in the 4a classroom.
  • Looking for nice, peaceful driving volunteer hours?
    • Pick up spring fundraiser centerpieces from a nursery in Salem, OR on Friday March 3 and return them to Salem on Monday, March 6. You need a big enough car to safely carry 15 gallon-sized, live plants.  
    • Pick up auction item at Elk Cove Vineyard before March 3 (open daily,10:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Our 4th Grade students are currently working on the IB Unit: How We Express Ourselves. The unit focuses on advertisement and how it influences the way we think and the choices we make.
