February 7, 2017: Coming Up Behind Jesus
View this email in your browser
Dear <<First Name>>,

After hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak. For she thought, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.” Mark 5:27, 28, NAS95.

Sometimes we feel the need to approach Jesus from a different direction to get what we need. Of course if we were truly conscious of who He is we would never resort to such tactics. However, sometimes our minds can still be subject to our unclear or ignorant beliefs.

A couple of weeks ago, I spoke of how we have been given some gifts to keep us from making mistakes like these. The greatest of these is the gift of song, especially the worship song. Each one of these little masterpieces tends to focus on the true qualities of our God that are revealed in the scriptures. As we listen to them, or especially sing them, they go deep into our spirit to convince us of who He is.

These truths not only reveal the true character of God, but remind us of who we are as His children and the inheritance we have already received. Unlike this story, there is no slinking around from behind because of feelings of unworthiness. Instead, we come boldly before Him, knowing He is longing to touch our lives.

Whenever we find our minds going toward doubt, negative self worth, or unworthiness, start singing the songs of love. Even better, sing them now and the incidence of these spiritual maladies will be far from you.

There is no need to approach Jesus from behind. He awaits you with open arms right now. Here is a song I have been listening to in my drive time
lately to get you started. Song

Enjoy today's chapter.
