We've all noticed that the Sun is rising later and setting earlier and while this means winter is coming (and hopefully some desperately needed rain) we need to prepare and ready ourselves for the season ahead. Eating healthily to support your immune system is vital to keep your body strong this season. Support your posture and further manage your back by joining our back class this month. It's open to anyone who wants to learn more about managing their back. 

Although the Cape Town Cycle Tour did not happen we still want to say a big well done to all of those who participated in the MTB and kid versions of the race! The budding cyclists had a fantastic time at the Kids race. Another well done to all of you that participated in African X and Addo Trail race!

After a month of up and downs we all deserve a treat! Our sweet treat this month is not only delicious but healthy too! The team at Cathy Chambers Physio have all tried it and loved it. Find the recipe for our yummy dairy free almond and chocolate ice creams below. 
Refresh your ideas on useful back exercises/movements for your back. If you are an athlete or play regular sport and you are looking for a way to help support your back to help your sporting performance, this would be an ideal opportunity to do so. The small, supervised session will ensure the quality of your movement and the information is invaluable and well researched. What the young people got up to...
Look at the young ones go! The kids Cape Town Cycle tour is a challenging 1.3km for the 3 year olds :) If only the medal was chocolate! Being healthy and active is a good habit, a lifestyle that should start early on in life. Encouraging the small people to participate in activities is a great way to set them up for life. They learn from a young age to keep moving and it becomes a healthy habit! We offer a Kids Class, to promote good, postural movement. DOT Challenge... The Cape to Rio row #DOTChallenge #Row2Rio
Take a look at how far Braam Malherbe and Wayne Robertson are progressing on their DOT challenge! There has been ups and downs; big swells, storms and big ships, but their spirits are high and their humour is good. Read more about their journey and their experiences as they row to Rio. Download the DOT app for apple or android to follow them with live updates. Do one thing (#DOT) to save the Earth! We are supporting them all the way!
Health recipe of the month:

Chocolate Almond ice cream!  
INGREDIENTS
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup lite coconut milk (canned)**
  • ¼ tsp coconut extract**
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ cup chopped dry roasted almonds
  • toasted coconut to garnish

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on low, stopping to scape down the sides every now and then. Blend until smooth and no lumps remain.
  2. Stir in almonds, and pour into popsicle molds.
  3. Sprinkle toasted coconut on top and add your sticks or tops to your molds.
  4. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or preferably over-night.
NOTE
*This mixture is equally delicious as a pudding! Just refrigerate after blending, instead of freezing. It becomes like a mousse (see pic above right.) 

** We used one can of coconut cream instead of the coconut milk and extract. It was DIVINE!
