Happy Valentine's Day! This special day is believed to be one of the most heart-felt holidays of the year. It is a day to remember that we not only need to reflect our love onto those we cherish, but also those we directly or indirectly impact. We must remember that love is greater than us. It is kindness, it is acceptance, it is understanding...it is the ability to see beyond ourselves. Make a promise to spread your love not just today but everyday!
"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. PEB Kindergarten Gala!
The Academic team attended Kindergarten Gala of Kinnaird Academy High School for Girls Lahore on January 21st. The theme of the program was "Values", for example, respect, kindness, cooperation and featured students from the Nursery Program through Grade 3. Students presented stories, songs and skits representing what they believe in most. Parents prepared costumes with the help of the teachers.

"Design a Better World" Competition!
Select students from Kinnaird Academy entered the "Design for a Better World" competition organized by Practical Action, an international NGO based in U.K. Students were asked to come up with an innovative idea that could help meet the targets for the United Nations Global Goals. One PEB group idea was chosen as one of the top 50 ideas by Practical Action. These students received certificates and a prize of £30 ($37 US). The students have donated one quarter of their cash prize to the Edhi Foundation to help those in need. The remaining 49 schools were from the UK. Kinnaird Academy was the only school from Pakistan in the top fifty. Way to go, Kinnaird Academy! We are so proud of you!

PEB Administration Building (Phase I)
Construction for Phase I of the new PEB Administration building is well underway. The foundation was completed this past fall and the roof of the structure has recently been set. Project completion is set for late April 2017. Funds are now being raised for Phase II.
Sangla Hill Christian Girls' School Higher Education Block
Construction at Sangla Hill has continues! The foundation is laid, columns completed and the walls will be built within the next few weeks. Project completion is anticipated for later this year.

Meet the People Behind Friends of PEB!

Get to Know Tim Roach...Friends of PEB Board President.
Q: What work experience do you bring to your current position?
A: I was born into a family that had Presbyterian roots and was nurtured by the church during the turbulent times of my youth in the 1960s. I felt called to parish ministry to do what I could to further enliven and expand the life and witness of the people of God into the realities of contemporary life. For forty years, I served as the minister of congregations in North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania. I am currently retired, enjoying life "in the pew" and still striving to enable the living of faith in myself and others.
Q: How did you learn about PEB?
A: I first heard about PEB from a short article in The Presbyterian Survey (now Presbyterians Today), announcing an upcoming trip by Veda Gill and her availability to visit congregations.
Q: What motivated or inspired you to be an integral member of Friends of PEB?
A: Veda spent a weekend with our congregation, bringing her unique inspiration and information of PEB and "converting" the congregation and me to this vital ministry. Subsequent contact and participation with Veda, FOPEB and PEB have continued to impress me and inspire my support.
Q: What do you hope to achieve?
A: I believe that Pakistan is/will be one of the crucial countries of the world, occupying a critical spot in the world geo-politics and socio-religious struggles. The ministry of PEB provides excellent academic education and also cultivates respect and cooperation amid diversity and hostility injecting a divine spirit of love and grace into the lives of the students, their families and communities. It is a blessing for me to be able to help continue the tradition PEB offers their students.

A: Humor, Organizational Management Skills, Critical Thinking
Q: Name one thing you can't live without:
A: My family!
Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: Be with my family or watching/playing sports (especially watching UNC play football...Go Tarheels!)
Q: Tell us something that might surprise us about you:
A I used to be a radio DJ my senior year in high school and in my late 20s was the radio play-by-play announcer for the local high school football team.

Fellowship Conference
The Fellowship Community is holding a National Gathering! Mark your calendars, and make a plan to attend the February 21-23, 2017 conference entitled, Deep & Wide: Making Missional Disciples. The Fellowship Community National Gathering will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Lakeland, FL. Veda will be there to share news of the good work of PEB-Pakistan and how your generosity is positively impacting the students of PEB.
