National Heart Month: All About AFib
In our e-Newsletter this month, we take a closer look at atrial fibrillation, or AFib, in connection with National Heart Month, recognized each February. AFib is the most common form of irregular heart beat or arrhythmia, and a risk factor for clot-provoked stroke. Heart Month 2017 provides a prime opportunity for us to contribute to important AFib dialogue taking place nationwide this month, and to share the many resources we have available on the topic, including a new AFib learning module for healthcare professionals that NBCA recently created. We encourage you to take care of your heart this month and learn more about AFib.

March is Blood Clot Awareness Month, which is dedicated to raising awareness about the signs, symptoms, and risk factors for dangerous blood clots, which are a frequently misunderstood and misdiagnosed public health threat. We’re looking for supporters to share their blood clot stories during the month of March for a fundraising effort that will showcase the many faces of blood clots. Regardless of age, gender, and background, we are all at risk. It’s our goal to share the stories and provide the visuals to demonstrate how blood clots can affect anyone and everyone. If you are interested in participating in this effort, please e-mail Caitlin Augustine at caugustine@stoptheclot.org to get started.
