NEW SERMON SERIES

Sometimes it is easy to convince ourselves that good fences really do make good neighbors.  After all, life is less complicated with a clear line between us and them, ours and theirs, mine and yours.  We prefer things to be nice and simple, black and white...we have little patience for shades of gray.  Yet as disciples of Jesus, we follow one who had little use for the lines and labels we use to separate ourselves. Men and women, Jews and Samaritans, sinners and Pharisees: all have a place around Christ's table.  The question is, are we willing to follow Jesus across the lines and beyond us and them?  To learn more, join us on Sundays at 10:15 AM for Rev. Troy Tatum's newest sermon series, Crossing the Line, starting Feb. 12.

On February 10-11 our church is hosting a spiritual and educational event sponsored by the Christian Church in Alabama and Northwest Florida. The weekend gathering begins with a worship service on Friday at 7:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Frank A. Thomas preaching. This worship service precedes the one-day Regional event for congregational leaders.

These workshops will be aimed at helping church members/leaders face issues that may bring new vitality to the congregation.  Workshops will start Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m.  The church will cover the registration fee for FCC members and friends, so please make every effort to attend some or all of this great event.  Contact the church office to sign-up. 

Thank you all for making the 2017 Spain Park Baseball Church Day a great success. I believe all the players, their families and the Diamond Dolls enjoyed the service and fellowship.  A special thank you to Mack Carpenter for helping me Saturday in the kitchen and making his special banana pudding for us, and to Buzz Devore for coming in and cooking off the meal so I could attend worship.  And last but not least, Janet Bonds for making 100 chocolate chip cookies for the boys. They loved them.  They all felt so welcomed.

Congratulations to the First Christian Church Boys Basketball Team (the Saints). In their first and only church league season, they were undefeated (9-0) and won the Championship Monday night at Dawson Memorial Church.  Everyone had a great time this season, even Coaches Mike Mee and Shawn Jordan, and bookkeeper Amy Jordan.

Players:  William Mee, Jacob Rich, Tucker Hagood, Douglas Henze, Thomas Jordan, Davis Holley, Landon Shoemaker, Houston Hollis, Nick Smarelli, & Carson Hall.  And as you can see we had quite a cheering section!
