21st Annual Hal Rosoff Classic

This Saturday hundreds of paddlers and racers will meet at the NAC to compete in one of the largest paddling races of the SoCal Ocean Racing Winter Series! Registration opens at 7am and first race (The 11 mile course) goes off at 9am!  
Who was Hal Rosoff:

  • Prominent O.C Restaurateur and Philanthropist
  • Owner of Back Bay Rowing & Running Club Restaurant
  • Daily Pilot's "103 Most Influential People" in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach
  • Active Leader in "Share Ourselves"
  • Spearheaded a kitchen distribution facility for excess food from area restaurants to feed the hungry
  • Stanford Graduate: 1952
  • Supporter of outrigger canoe racing! 1980 - "Era Offshore Canoe Club"
  • Frequent visitor of "The Royal Hawaiian" in Waikiki
  • Enjoyed a good joke or funny moment
  • Always in our HEARTS

9am: Long Course approx. 11 miles
9:15am: Board Race approx. 5.5 miles
9:30am: Dory Scramble
9:30: Grom Race
11am Short Course 4.5 miles


The Hal Rosoff Classic
 is a paddling race in Newport Harbor consisting of a variety of different courses for Outriggers, Kayaks, Prone, K1’s, C1’s, Dory's, Surfski's and Stand Up Paddle Boards. The annual race is in the second week of February and attracts hundreds of participants from Southern California. There are 5 courses to choose from - showing that we have a race for everyone!
