Greetings Friends!
As always, I hope this letter finds you happy, healthy, and feeling LOVED.
And what better month to talk about LOVE??? There are so many forms of love - romantic love, love for family & friends. We love our pets. We have love for strangers. We love our work (hopefully!), love our homes, ....and some people even love their cars. And let's not forget .....chocolate! I really love chocolate. But there is one type of love that seems to be the most challenging for many, including me. I'm talking about SELF love.
Why is it that love flows so freely outwards but we find it so difficult to look in the mirror and feel unconditional love for ourselves? Who knows. Maybe this stems from a societal expectation that giving is better than receiving. Or perhaps we can point to a place or time in our past that set the stage for how we feel about ourselves today. There are countless possibilities, I suppose. But one thing I am sure of is that loving yourself is an essential component for a healthy you... as essential as the air that you breathe.
Sure, most of us have people in our lives that love us. We know they do. They say they do. We even feel their love for us. Isn't that good enough? Well, I will say that it's a wonderful feeling to be loved. Of course it is. And sometimes we might even believe that we are actually worthy! But here's the kicker....it's not someone else's job to make us feel whole and complete. That's a pretty big responsibility! And nothing in life guarantees that others will be able to carry that load indefinitely. AND...contrary to popular belief, nobody will ever love you more than you are able to love yourself! When we exercise self love, we strengthen our connection to our Souls, we are empowered as human beings, we manifest our happiness....AND we lighten the load of others.
Already feel pretty great about yourself inside and out? Awesome! Keep up the good work!
Feel like you could use a few tips? Well, I'm no expert but here are some methods that really resonate with me:
1) Change the "songs" in your mind. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself. Consciously turn negative self chatter to positive affirmations (remember the saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say...."?)
2) When you look in the mirror, don't forget to say, "I love you!" - EVERY DAY
3) Practice self care - treat yourself to a massage, Reiki, a new haircut, a day off, a walk in the woods, or some sort of treat....often!
4) Give yourself a hug. A real hug. Wrap your arms around yourself and allow yourself to feel the most love you have ever felt towards anyone before
5) Send yourself a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, a bottle of wine - and don't forget to write yourself a love note, expressing your true feelings...
It may not always be easy to do and some days are easier than others to practice self love. But when we love ourselves first, we are better partners, friends, family members, co workers...better people. Every one of us is a beautiful, kind, and loving being. Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves of that. One way I remind myself each day is to end my gratitude prayer with "....and I promise to love myself and all others today". Amen.
Give it a try. And think of it this way. Love for yourself is simply receiving love from...well, from God. Why not give it a whirl? ;)
So here's what's happening at Light Works in February...
On February 8th , we'll be kicking off the month with Movie Night! We'll be getting together to watch.... "The Connection". It's a film that explores the link between our minds and our bodies....how our thinking truly does influence our health! Come hang out with me and other like minded folks for a chill night at the movies ...popcorn provided :)
On February 9th, Dr Craig is back! Interested in learning how your dreams are speaking to you? Join Dr. Craig Rush, licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and spiritual Soul Tender, for "Dream Tending - Learn to Analyze Your Dreams with Dr. Craig". This workshop takes dream interpretation to a new level! Then on February 22nd, learn about your past lives and how they might be affecting your current state of emotions, thought patterns, and relationships in this lifetime. Join us for an evening of past life therapy education and sample a past life regression at "Past Life Regression Therapy with Dr. Craig" .
Spend some time learning how to receive loving guidance from the other side at Meditation with Intention...to Connect with Spirit! on February 12th. I'll be teaching my method of connecting with the angels, spirit guides, and loved ones...and, yes, anyone can do it :)
On February 16th, Beth "B" Carleton and I will be hosting a special luncheon and inviting your Angels, Spirit Guides, and loved ones to join us for a Heavenly Hearts Lunch w/Juli & "B"! Come out to receive loving, healing messages from the other side....and to enjoy afternoon refreshments!
Have you been thinking about learning Reiki? On February 18th/26th, attend the Usui Ryoho Reiki Level I Certification class. Whether you're interested in learning how to give Reiki to yourself (think self love!), wish to share Reiki with friends & family, or want to begin a Reiki practice....this is a perfect opportunity to jump right in!

And what better way to show love to yourself than by connecting to your higher you through meditation?? Relax and leave all of your stress behind as we gather for a guided meditation on February 26th for "Let's Meditate! Guided Meditation Night - Self Love Body Healing". Tap into the many health benefits of meditation AND by loving yourself!
Speaking of relaxation, be sure to take advantage of this month's special - $10 off a Reiki Healing Session. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. And finally, on February 28th I'll be teaching workshop to learn how to tune in and connect with your pets at "Let's Play - Animal Communication!" Animals are so connected to us and each other. They know what we're thinking and feeling. They're just waiting for us to listen to them! This is a fun, interactive workshop to learn how :)
