Dear parents,

It is coming to that time of the school academic year where half term reports are looming around the corner.  You will have noticed students within EISB taking part in various assessments within their classes and topics.

‘Reporting to parents’ is one aspect of assessment procedures here within EISB.  The main purpose of assessment is of course for ‘learning’.  Assessment can be seen as ‘assessment as learning’, ‘for learning’ and ‘of learning’.

Very shortly you will be issued with your child’s half-year ‘summative report’.
These reports are designed to provide both the student and parent with the following:

  1. improve student-learning opportunities through providing and receiving feedback from curriculum areas of study,
  2. assist in promoting cooperation and positive relationships between school and home,
  3. keep parents informed regarding the academic and social progress of your child,
  4. identify future learning needs and directions.

It is vital that you take the time to view these reports carefully with your child looking at both their achievements and focus areas.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please be sure to contact your child’s teachers.

Primary School reports will be issued on Friday, 3 February
MYP School reports will be issued on Friday, 3 February.
These reports will be distributed via hard copy.  NOT emailed.

Primary School PE Lessons

As you know we have already commenced our new Primary School PE lessons.

Years 3-6 -‘Ice-Skating’.  We kindly ask the students to bring their skates, helmets and appropriate winter clothing.

Years N-2 -‘Gymnastics’ in the Gymnastics Hall with professional Gymnasts.  Short/leggings, T-Shirts are required.

PE Lessons Dress Code

We kindly ask parents to fit all students appropriately for the Physical Education lessons. This requires a separate set of sport clothes to be available for the lesson. Students should change their ordinary dress for sport one prior to PE lesson commencement and change dress back to ordinary upon completion of the PE lesson. The school rule does not allow the student to participate at the PE lesson wearing normal dress.

Students without a separate set of clothes for PE lessons will not be allowed to participate and will be considered as absence. We kindly ask you to respect this guideline, as PE is a compulsory component of our curriculum.

MYP Art Exhibition

We would like to thank students, friends, parents, and teachers for attending this years MYP Art Exhibition.
The students have enjoyed their study in the journey of explorations and discoveries made in the world of Photography and their work really reflected this.
Thank you to Mr. Ochea and students for your valuable contributions and efforts you all made into making this exhibition such a success.
If you were unable to attend the exhibitions, the students will be displaying their work in the MYP building for a while yet.

Clubs

As you are aware, clubs (both school and external) have commenced already.  If you are interested in your child attending (if there is still available space), please contact our secretary at secretary@eisbratislava.com
In regards to your child not being able to attend their club for whatever reason, please contact our school secretary at the above email address informing us.  We thank you in your cooperation regarding this matter.

MYP Ski Trip

Please note; the dates for the MYP Ski trip are 12-17 March 2017.  Final payments can be made within the school office during working hours.

Winter Outdoors Clothing

With winter now in full force, some children are still not wearing appropriate winter clothing catering for all the elements.  We kindly ask parents/families to be noticeable in ensuring your child comes to school wearing correct warm clothing.  Especially with jackets, hats, gloves, scarf and winter socks.
As we all know, we can embrace all seasons of the year, ensuring we are wearing the correct appropriate clothing.

School Uniform

We have stated within our newsletter many times over the past, that wearing the full school uniform is not only EISB policy, but it is also part of our unique identity.
A big thank you to all our students for wearing their correct full school uniform, as you are truly wonderful ambassadors for our school.
For those students still not wearing the correct EISB uniform we kindly ask you to do so immediately. The uniform supplier currently has all sizes from primary through to MYP available.
