Questions and discussions in our forums
 
Our new forum on ‘moving on from the land-sparing vs. land-sharing debate’ is still going on. We currently have responses from Ben Phalan (University or Cambridge), Adrian Muller (ETH Zurich) and Emile Frison (International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems) and a few more coming up. We would love to hear your thoughts, whether they are long or short, whether you are a first year student or a seasoned researcher in the field. To find the discussion, see here. Our new volunteer Leanna Crowley from Imperial College (portfolio) is working on creating a detailed infographic to accompany the summary of the forum.

Job: Postdoctoral fellow in Agriculture and climate change at AfricaRice in Côte d'Ivoire

CGIAR Research Center AfricaRice is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral fellow in agriculture and climate change. The postdoc will be part of a multi‐disciplinary research team to sustain and improve the productivity of rice‐based systems in Africa. They will lead activities on developing climate‐smart rice technologies to contribute to local adaptation and evaluation and assess the technologies’ potential for diffusion at large scale in Burkina‐Faso.

Job: Part-time Coordinator, Centre for Food Policy, City University, London

The Centre of Food Policy at City University of London is seeking to employ a new coordinator role within the Centre. The Centre for Food Policy sits within the Department of Sociology, part of the School of Arts and Social Sciences. The centre is one of the very few places in the world dedicated to studying, teaching and influencing food policy.

The centre are seeking to employ a part time (0.5fte) centre coordinator to provide support across the centre across a broad range of areas - fundraising, grant writing, finance alumni relations, communications, events, sustainability and general administration. The post is currently funded for 12 months

Sustainable Food Planning Workshop for PhD Students and Young Professionals, Berlin, March 23-24

The Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) is welcoming participants to their two day workshop called ‘Making, Measuring, and Rethinking Sustainable Food Systems’. This workshop is organised by the AESOP Sustainable Food Planning PhDs and young professionals group. The event is open to early-career participants such as young professionals, practitioners, PhD students, post docs from all around the world, working on the multiple fields of sustainable food planning.

The workshop will take place on Thursday March 23rd – Friday 24th, 2017 at the Georg-Simmel Center for Metropolitan Studies in Berlin, Germany. Participation to the workshop is free of charge.

Short papers proposals and registration forms must be submitted before  February 15th, 2017.
