Digital tools to better guard populations against natural disasters, Cloud to Street
The Cloud to street project aims at enabling populations to protect themselves from natural disasters such as floodings, by using social networks and digital tools. According to Bessie Schwarz, co-founder of the project, thanks to this geographical vulnerability detection and mapping tool, “we can make sure no one is left behind and is risking his life”. The project was presented by Bessie at the 2016 Lab Laboo Innovator Awards, and received a special mention from the jury.

Call for papers: European Microfinance Research Award
Deadline: 13th of February of 2017



Papers eligible for selection should present ongoing or finalised research on issues related to microfinance in the European Union and EFTA countries exclusively. Papers exploring the potential and key role of financial education for citizen empowerment will be especially valued as well as those focusing on financial inclusion. Other subjects are equally welcome, e.g. those related to job creation, information technology and innovation, social performance measurement, impact assessment and social entrepreneurship.
