GODINCIDENCE OR COINCIDENCE?  Hmmmmmmm?

I have been moved by the response of many to Sunday morning's sermon and the story I told of the "surprise" encounter of our Nazarene pastor in Belize City, Belize last week while participating in a conference cruise with other Nazarene pastors.

It set me to thinking:  are such encounters just a chance of fate, a "coincidence" as we often say, or a God-engineered moment that becomes "Godincidence"?  I tend to believe the latter, especially when it seems that in various streams of a situation inexplicable things happen that lead to such a moment.  This to me is evidence God is at work in the free-will choices of individuals.

Last Friday evening, in our closing gathering at the conference, the pastors and spouses from across America shared testimonies of grace, prayer requests, anointed some for specific issues of major concern and prayed for each other.  It was quite an evening.

In the midst of it, we heard the testimony of one of our Pastor's spouses, her husband being among the leading influential pastors in our denomination.  She did not grow up Nazarene or in a church, and except for her "crazy aunt," as she put it, her family didn't really have much Christian influence.

When she took a job as a young woman in Seattle at a local TV station, she took the wrong exit off the freeway one morning in a driving rainstorm, and found her car facing a sign and a church building that was Aurora Church of the Nazarene.  What began that morning with a wrong turn became her first visit to that church months later; which led to her going to the altar and giving her life to Christ that morning; which led to her meeting the pastor's son and later marrying him; which led to her finding out just recently, many years later, that the pastor who led her "crazy aunt" to the Lord years before was actually a Nazarene, indeed, the grandfather of the man that became her husband!  And there were a couple of other amazing things in that story I don't have time to write about here!

Coincidence?  I think not.
Godincidence?  I believe so!

WHAT is God up to right now around you?  WHO is the Holy Spirit dealing with right now in your circle of influence? WHERE is God engineering some potential encounter involving you to influence someone for His Kingdom soon?  It's exciting, isn't it, to live this way?  To see my life as an adventure of faith, led by the Holy Spirit!  Stay on the journey, and stay sensitive to the Spirit's leading.  There may be a Godincidence waiting just around the corner...
